Homelink garage door opener
Homelink garage door opener
Is there a trick to getting the homelink garage door opener programmed?
It does not seem to like any of my attempts for the home garage... The office garage took 5 attempts. If there is some advice to make it easier it would help.

No Trick, like many of the electronic items in the aston its a horror show at best and overly difficult,, I cant get it to work w my garage openers either
and I programmed all the garages myself and several remotes and my Mercedes and audi R 8 without issue
Im an ex computer engineer and electronics guy and I cant get it to work either.. bottom line, since aston agreed to use MERCEDES engines and bosch electronics, that day cant come soon enough,, lol
same problem with the blue tooth, on aston,, its not 100 % to spec so it will work with phone calls but not with my phones GPS audible commands, voice recognition and text to voice.. even though my Mercedes and AUDI which are 2 years older do.. because the are 100 % in spec with the Bluetooth spec standard
I've noticed that some people think the programming didn't work because they tap on the programmed button to test it and nothing happens. You have to press and hold the button for about a second before the garage door moves.
Very true. Unless you hold the button for a good one count, nothing happens, unlike the remote which comes with the door opener.
Yes, well like I said Im an electronics guy so I have all the written instructions on both car and garage and programmed 4 other cars no problem... that weren't astons and Im well aware of this,, you can hold the button for a year makes no difference,, the issue is it will not replicate rolling encrypted codes with any consistency.. aston admits there can have issues with rolling security codes
has nothing to do with how long you press the button
Works for the rolling codes on my Chamberlain LiftMaster with no problem every time without fail.
Oh, and the mirrors are made by Gentex which is the OEM supplier of HomeLink mirrors for almost every single automaker; so I can't see why Aston's would be any different or more difficult than any other car's to program or operate.

all u have to do is search online and tons of people have this issue and dealers know it can be problematic too.. that facts are there,, glad it works for you but it doesnt for alot of people
I just programmed my new V8V and Cayenne and neither worked on my rolling code garage doors until I first programmed the button with a hand held opener that worked on that particular door and then reprogrammed that same button using the head unit instructions which programs the rolling codes part. It worked on all 3 buttons for my 3 doors for both cars doing it that way
I struggled with my Vantage Homelink for 5 hours and then gave up. I can do my BMW or Mercedes in just a few minutes. I tried every combo known to man on the programming. If ANYONE can come to my house and get it working I will sing your praises and carve your name in concrete in my driveway, put a cold Corona in your hand along with a home-made Tex Mex dinner....my wife can cook that up really fine.

I have had 2 Astons and was able to get the home link to work just fine. It works to open my garage door and with to turn on and off the entrance lights to my house. I followed the procedure in the owner's manual ... maybe I just got lucky twice, with all three functions (one function per button).
