Has Anyone Tried To.......
...ah man, I was getting ready to tell you that you'd better be really limber because there just isn't enough room for two in the front seats...I know.
I'll go have a look at that visor. I can't recall seeing such a thing. Maybe the guy who previously loved my Vantage, loved it enough to take care of that for me.

I have that one and I "support" it......It's hidden behind the visor.....the other one has got to go......
Peeled off quick and easy...no residue that can be felt or seen. Car was four years old when the operation was performed.

super....thanks guys...
mine left some residue that I am going to work on using a heat gun followed by dabbing with duct tape.......no chemicals as it will stain or smear.
I would be wary of a heat gun. I think you may have success with goo gone or tar-minator by stoner which is clear and strong. I would experiment on some alcantera material from an upholstery shop first before any attempts
^^^^Nooooooooo.
Goo Gone is a citrus oil and will probably leave an oily stain on the Alcantara. And duct tape may leave more adhesive than it removes. Also, heat guns can apply an intense amount of heat and could actually scorch the fabric, melt plastic, etc.
When I have done some of my interior parts in Alcantara, I almost always inevitably get a bit of adhesive overspray on the finish surface. I usually moisten a lint-free white towel in mineral spirits and lightly dab to remove the excess glue. As long as you don't use so much that you actually soak the fabric, you should be OK (note: if you soak the fabric, the adhesive under the fabric could lose it's strength).
Make sure the towel you wipe with is white, otherwise you could transfer dyes onto the Alcantara. In fact, I have sometimes even just used a white sheet of Bounty paper towels (again, white only, no patterns or dyes).
P.S. Very rarely will you find an upholstery shop that has real Alcantara in stock because it costs over $100 per yard. You may see velours and microfibers but these are in no way like the real thing.

So funny to see this thread. Just 2 days ago I was in my AMV8 and I got curious and stared to see if mine would peel back ok. It appeared as though it would come off really easily. I chickened out and stopped... Look like many of you also agree that they should go. I might get back in mine and finish the job!
