AM Ice Track in CO
AM Ice Track in CO
My dream of sliding an Aston (well any high performance car) around an ice track may actually come true. It appears Aston has built an ice track in Colorado. I need to look into this one!

+1. I love taking my different vehicles out, and learning what to do on slippery surfaces. Many times these lessons are not learned during the first incident - sometimes too late.

I was there. It was definitely a first rate experience. The track seemed shorter than the mile that it was, but it had some interesting turns and elevation changes that made even the long back straight tricky. They let you choose to drive with all aids on or track mode or all off. I almost stuffed the V12 Vantage S into the snow bank when I turned on track mode, but driving the Vanquish in track mode was manageable. I didn't try with all systems off, but they ended the event in ride alongs with the instructors and they drifted around the entire track with everything off!
I was going to post some pictures, but the vid here is better than any shots I took:
I'd be happy to answer any questions if anyone is interested in going next year.

It was expensive, of course. But to say the accommodations were first class would be a huge understatement. We were put up in a huge house right on the slopes (shared with 4 other couples), with our own private chef and two drivers. We got to meet other folks with a passion for Aston Martin (and other sports cars) and we got know execs from AM as well. They paid for other activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, etc. The instructors were all professional racing drivers as well (Paul Gerrard, Stephan Verdier, Ramana Lagemann...). All priceless stuff in my mind. I have no regrets about it.
The only downside was the elevation. Our house was at 10,000 ft and we were struggling with the altitude for the first two days. I would recommend going there (or maybe Denver) a few days ahead of time just to get acclimatized.
