Vantage stuff

Aston Martin of Washington bought my 2007 Vantage back from me today, they apparently have sold off all their pre-owned cars and need some used Astons! I decided to sell both my Vantage and my BMW 135i Cab to cut down car outlay costs and went to a 991 Carrera S, sort of combing those two cars into one. Jay Leno I'm not......

This is a good forum with a great group of guys, better than most - I've had a lot of fun posting here about Astons the past year and a half. No worries, I'm still going to stop by and post once in a while and will likely be Instructing at the Aston Martin School on May 1st at Summit Point.

I have some Aston parts left over for sale, but the mods don't want me to post here in this segment, so they're over in parts, with photos. Ad is here:

Take care! Curious, what prompted you to sell?

I have two cars, a truck and three motorcycles. It's getting to be silly paying out all that money in insurance, annual personal property tax (Virginia is very high on that) and doing all the maintenance on them all, so I decided to downsize since I'm not a wealthy guy, just a motorhead that spends more than he should on his passion. So the BMW convertible went, the Aston, and my vintage Kawasaki GPZ will go once I finish doing some final work on it to get it primo. That will get me down to the pickup truck, the Porsche and two bikes, and that's still probably more than I need but it frees up a huge amount of space in my garage and overall will cost less. And what the Sports Car can't do the Pickup truck can - and vice versa.

I went back to Porsche as the 991 is a superb driver's car - and easier to use day in and day out. I'll miss the beauty and build components of the Aston, ideally I would liked to have been able to keep it AND have the 991 both, but having two high end cars isn't in my pay grade. AM of Washington DC bought my 2007 Vantage back as they are selling a lot of cars apparently and had no used ones on the lot, so they paid me top dollar for it. Odd that I had no buyers here or on EBAY or Craigslist for it. Bet it sells in two weeks over at the dealership.

Sorry to hear you've moved on from the Aston, but I'd say a 991 is a great compromise. Back when I had the M3 and a Z4, I hated that one car was always relegated to the garage, not to mention additional maintenance, car washes, etc. I definitely understand your motivation to consolidate.

Oh and $20 for Grant's book!? Wish I hadn't paid full price several months back! What a steal.

Thanks all..... I bought a 991 Carrera S Cabriolet. Made an excellent deal on it as it's a three-pedal car very lightly optioned, it wasn't moving. It's quite a machine actually, but at this level of build and price, what isn't?

I might very well find myself in an Aston again, just have to wait for the new Vanquish models to hit the $ 100K - $ 120K mark - and that's going to be a few years...lol

[QUOTE=drcollie;4078178]Thanks all..... I bought a 991 Carrera S Cabriolet. /QUOTE]

Could you share a bit about the difference between the price you paid/sold along with the kms you drove?

I have an 07 aston (canadian) and curious to know what I should expect as the holding cost when I decide to sell. Prices in canada are significantly higher, and I am just concerned about re-sale.

Currently have 13,000kms on the aston. (I purchased at 11,000km) wanted to sell as soon as I hit 20,000kms.

Can I wait until the car is sold before I disclose pricing? Aston Martin of Washington bought it from me and they read this forum, I don't think it would be fair to them to say what the buy price was until after it sells. I like the guys there and don't want to wear out my welcome. My car was super-clean and only had 8,200 miles on it, so I suspect it will go fast.

Great looking 911. What year is it? Sorry I don't know enough about Porsches to tell the year on sight. My wife just got a new Boxster S and I am very impressed with it.
Do they have an annual tax on vehicles in VA?
I'll take a Vanquish Volante when they reach $120. Will they still have gas by then? Lol

That makes sense. I was looking at the Cayman S where it was an optional extra. Still a great choice!
