Can you Aston Martin veterans give me your opinions on this 07' Vantage?

1) He's not being sincere and it's not really that easy or cheap to fix these things; or
2) He's too lazy to get them fixed prior to selling the car.

Either way, the result is that it makes the buyer think that he is not very meticulous and doesn't bother to fix things on the car when they happen.

He says he doesn't want any low-ballers, but he better be willing to take a discount from his asking price from a potential buyer since he didn't get these minor things fixed.
I only posted the link for the additional Tungsten Silver pictures...however, the car is priced aggressively and should be evaluated on that basis. I'm not of the same inclination as Karl...
BTW, the car in Scottsdale is also on 7 year old tires...and hasn't enough miles to develop the front seal leak-another $3k+ to fix should it develop. My leak didn't show up until my mileage was in the mid-teens; thankfully I had purchased a two year extended warranty which covered the repair costs. (the Arizona car VIN is within 8 of my Vantage, so they must have been on the manufacturing line at the same time).

There are may factors involved with purchasing a specialty automobile, and everyone has different concerns about what is important to them.
It's great that we can express our individual concerns on the forum here without fear of reprisals...I'll get off of my soap box now .

The leak and close-ness of the VIN's are great to know... and it's nice to see some pics of the silver in the sunlight.

Speaking of the oil leak, this car is kind of unique and has had the oil leak repaired:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aston-Martin...US_Cars_Trucks

I don't think I'd take it with the wrap, but seems well equipped and cared for... I think the blue interior looks fantastic in the quilt-stitch.

Quite expensive though for 32k miles.

Haha! That was my car that I just sold.

FYI: It actually sold with the wrap and at almost full asking price.

You can see the ad that I created to sell it here.

Haha! Awesome man, congrats on the sale!

Do dealerships usually have wiggle room on the CPO's with the warranties? I really like this Tunsten Silver 07' in Bellevue, but the price is *quite* high I feel (higher than the price at Los Gatos with more miles...)

Try not to get too hung up on the mileage of cars, 20-30k is not big mileage for these cars which are pretty bulletproof. I would try to get a CPO, that one year will give you peace of mind. I know some will disagree, and I originally did, but low mileage cars can have issues, such as not enough miles to develop some of the known faults, and in most cases these are expensive to fix. just imho.

Didn't realize the SF car was lowered. I'm with you, I prefer a stock car, mine still rubs on my driveway going down so it'd be even worse on a lowered car. These things have really long noses.

JB7 is infamous around these parts
I'm a little late to the party on this thread but I did want to add my .02. I own an 07 V8V and recently purchased 2 cars from John at Scottsdale Sport, an 07 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT and an 07 F430. While I was there I looked at and sat in the Vantage you are looking at as it is the twin to my car. The car is exceptionally clean as are every car in his showroom. I live in NH and had the 430 shipped to NH and left the QP in Az at my house there. Both cars I bought are in amazing condition and have been joys to own. I will add that I am in no way affiliated with SSC, I'm just a car enthusiast. I've had good and bad buying experiences over the years and I must say that buying these cars was about as easy as it gets. I can't say enough good things about how I was treated and the condition of every car I looked at. I believe I paid fairly for both my cars, not the cheapest ones out there but both nearly flawless and well serviced. As a car guy I will also pose that is it ever worth saving a couple grand at purchase and then have to spend $5k bringing the services and repairs up to date? Anyway, sorry for rambling, too much caffeine this am, but I just wanted to add some first hand experience for you. Best of luck with your search and any way around it you will find the Vantage to be a very special car, a pleasure to own and drive and one that perhaps is the last of a breed of hand built cars by an independent manufacturer. -Jon

That would be my biggest (and probably only) worry about the Scottsdale car. DonL has an 07' with a VIN that's 8 away from the Scottsdale car and had the cam belt cover oil leak, but it didn't develop till the mid-teens. If I drove it back to St. Louis from AZ I would take the scenic route and put at least 2,500 on it, which might put me really close to needing a $3k repair. It's a negotiating chip at least.... but not having any experience with it I can't say how big of a potential issue it it.

If it developed during my trip back, how serious is the issue? I will be taking extra oil with me for sure, but I just want to make sure it's not a "take to shop now don't drive it anymore" issue if I planned on making a long trip in the car...

Thanks for the input - it seems like $65k would be the right price, and like you said, after due diligence. I'm assuming Aston Martin Scottsdale would be the preferable place to have the PPI done?
Yes, you can put a deposit down "pending PPI inspection" which means you lock down the car as your and as long as nothing odd pops up in the inspection you are good to go. If something does pop up you can negotiate the fixes as a part of the deal. PPI is typically $175-250 depending on the dealership. Typically deposit is $500 non refundable. Make sure you agree to the final price before putting deposit down. At this point the dealership usually knows you are serious and is willing to come a but further down on price to lock in the deal (especially at the end of every month where they are trying to hammer as many car deals through to meet specific quotas)

Aston dealer is best place to do the PPI as they know what to look out for the best, although my Audi dealership did a fantastic job and even replaced battery for free as a part of the deal bc it was "low" (below specification). They threw in a few other things as well. You only get this level of treatment from major OEM dealerships, independents rarely go to such lengths as their legal liability is far less and they do not have higher standard of sale condition.

Do not drive it back... Ship the car in an enclosed trailer for $1k. You may be able to even throw shipping in the deal if they don't come down enough on price. The wear and tear is not worth it o save a few bucks... I promise you will end up spending more in the long run.

The San Francisco car is also not a bad option as it is a 1 owner car. With 19k miles it's closer to a $56-57k car but it does have the nice white stitching. The H&R springs would be a minus or a plus depending how you look at it, but the wheel offset looks even more terrible with the drop so wheels would be borderline mandatory . The SF car does have the upgrade clear tails... Personally I love the older Red tails, but if you want the clear tails it's nice they are already done.

Either one sounds like a good option.

In states that have sales tax, you will be charged the tax if you drive it home, even if you don't live in that state. FYI

Just had a slightly frustrating experience with John Miraglia from Scottsdale...

I had talked to JB7 who had said he had a great experience with John and that the car was in great shape so I gave him a call and was sure to mention the referral from JB7 (who has bought two cars from John in the past). We talked about the car's history, and everything about the car seemed great. But then he jumped down my throat when I mentioned that a user here had a car 8 VINS away that developed the cam oil leak in the mid-teens and that it was my only concern about this car going forward... he called forum users "lazy people with beer in their hands who've never owned the car with nothing better to do at 2:00 AM than spout bull****... if you never want to buy a car a forum is where to get "advice"" and that me being concerned about it was "no offense, I know you know Jon but that's wild talk, okay?". Not really how I would have expected he handle the question. There wasn't any need to slam this or any community - he could have conveyed the same message without making me question whether I'd want to do business with him...

I then sent him my email address so he could send me the carfax, and he replied "Seems like we have 2 retail customers from this weekend on the 07 AM. Will follow up if we don’t sell it. Thx", so he didn't even send back the carfax so I could consider the car.

Looks like - on principle alone - I will be searching for a different car. That's not how I expect to be treated.

I'm sure JB7 had a fantastic experience, and he shouldn't feel bad for making the recommendation of course, but treating one customer right isn't enough... there needs to be consistency, and unfortunately I didn't have the same experience as JB7. Just thought I should put it out there.

If it looks like the second car in the picture I posted, I like it better than the way the first car and the way the Los Gatos car looks... it's almost more of a brown / bronze hue to the silver in those vs. the lighter silver in the second picture.

Can anyone who has seen or owned a Tungsten Silver car confirm which of these examples the color of the car is actually closer to?

Thanks
Thats a tough one to answer… I have the Tungsten color and at different times of the day it looks like both of those photos! In the early morning hours and through most of the day it looks like the cooler gray color.
But under any kind of warm light (sunsets etc.) it look like the photo above.

Look at the building behind the car. Notice the difference… I bet the top photo was taken at sunset or sunrise as the light is more orange.
