Those of you with CPO / Third Party Warranties... use them much?
downside with a really low mileage car is something like the well known oil leak may not have developed yet, don't they typically show up in upper teens?
It's pretty long established in the Ferrari world, low mileage garage queens can be problematic.

Okay fellas... it might be a departure from the price of the car's I've been considering, but Fil was telling me he could get me a good deal one of the 'new' 2013's he has. Here's the car I've been considering...

I could likely get this car for close to $100k. Comparing that price to the sticker ($130K+ after all options) and looking at other 2012 and 2013's on the market, this might be the best play for both depreciation AND peace of mind (because hey, a 3 year MFG warranty is > any extended warranty). They stopped making the manuals in 15', so I have a feeling newer model year manuals will retain value very well.
It's quite a jump in price, and I'd say right around $100k is near the max I'd like to spend, but it seems like it may be a smart play. (I was going to buy the chicago car with cash; I'd put $70k down on this one and finance $30k, so it really doesn't make a huge difference month-to-month. I'll have to check on any difference in insurance rates though...).
Thoughts?

I believe the MFG warranty doesn't start until the registration date of the first owner.
not yeah, but HELL YEAH, a new car with full warranty? If it's not a stretch financially, I'd jump all over it.
The other good thing, the discounted price means a lot depreciation factored in.

I offered $103k OTD, including finance fees and etc, and a tint job. I'll likely hear back tomorrow as the GM has left for the day. I think it's a good price, but I'd love to hear you all say the same... thoughts? Kind of disappointing it isn't *brand* new, but I don't think future buyers will care I was the second owner at less than 100 miles

Interesting, I wonder if the dealership registered it for one reason or another. At any rate, someone else took a nice depreciate hit that's to your benefit.
If I could afford a new (or essentially new AM) I'd be all over it! Good luck.

Going to push any big decision on this off to next week at the earliest and keep my eyes open for any good deals in the meantime. This stuff is kind of stressful! The Scottsdale car is fantastic, I think my favorite color would be that meteorite silver, but the guy was an ******* and still hasn't gotten back to me with the carfax (not that I'd reply... but what an idiot to just shut off a cash customer because he talked about a forum...), so... what a bummer on that one though.
no need to rush it, plenty of time!
And that's what I'm debating now. Just because I can afford it maybe doesn't mean I should get it

I just called Napletons and talked to Mike. The car was actually registered on 3/19, so the warranty clock started ticking then (why the heck would it be registered and then never driven?) so I suppose it's not a "one owner" officially. It also had the 12 month service on 4/29 of this year.

There also might have been some incentives from AM for,the dealer to put the car into service, as it would show as not in new car inventory. An accounting maneuver, but also just speculation on my part
You should see lightning silver in person before purchasing. Most like it, but it's definitely a unique color. Changes hue's with the lighting
Ugh. I'm thinking I just have to wait for a CPO car just to put my mind at ease. I have a feeling all these third party cars will just fail inspection after inspection and I'll dump a ton of money and get nowhere...

Asked the guy some questions, and I just get sick now when they say something that makes me realize they don't really know Vantages at all. I asked how the clutch was and he was all "It's only 18k miles so the clutch is of course fine". No, 18k miles in a civic means the clutch is fine. 18k miles in a vantage means it's a 50/50, especially with 4 owners and less than stellar service history (had to call him for the carfax). Also, he said the rear tires are off-brand, which is a huge red flag from the maintenance side. NEVER have two brand of tires on the same car, especially worn at different rates. You have a $60k plus car and you can't afford $600 for some OE rear tires? What else did the previous owners skimp on?
Guy said he was going to put it on the lift tomorrow and have his mechanic go over it since he just got it in, but obviously that puts my mind at east zero percent, as the 08' was supposedly in "mint condition" before it miraculously failed the PPI...
I just wish a meteorite silver would come on the CPO market. Every one of the 5+ on the market right now is at some shady "luxury cars" outlet stuffed with Acuras and cheap Audi's, and it's like pulling out my hair to get these people to understand why I'm concerned about certain things on these cars that don't matter on others.
Come on AM dealerships! Just pick up ONE used meteorite silver in 6spd w/ black interior and contrast stitch and I'm yours...

When shopping for the "right" Aston, Patience is a virtue!
For both my Vantages I patiently searched for a solid 6-7 months before I pulled the trigger on the right one. Trust me the right one will come along when the timing is right, don't try to force it

Here's an example:
The rear tires on my 07 V8V wore out but the fronts still had about 50% tread left. I didn't want to buy another set of the OEM Bridgestone Potenzas because, frankly, they are crap. They are rated #27 on Tire Rack. I wanted to go with the best possible tire for the car so I put on a rear set of the #1 rated tire: the Michelin Pilot Super Sport (I also increased the cross-section width by 10mm). I drove with a mismatched set until the front OEM tires finally wore out and then replaced them with the Michelins.
