I was aware that AM used some poor quality parts--but the bonnet latches on my 2008 Vantage look like the came from a Model-T Ford!
Mine were corroded so I took both the latch and lock plates off ,stripped them and refinished with black hammer finish paint.The rusty nut on the forward plate serves no purpose so I drilled it off.The plates are flat but the mating surface is not--so AM stuck a washer under one side as a spacer!
At least they now look a bit better.

 

My bonnet flipped open at high speed. Caused a bit of damage. Luckily I wasn't driving it. Definately recommend making sure its in good order.

 

If I recall correctly "a bit of damage" is "a bit of understatement"

 

Well it was bonnet obviously, windscreen and roof .

Also meant I needed a new wrap.

I have seen worse.

 

There is a service bulletin that the hood latch gets adjusted at every yearly inspection. I have seen a 2008 Vantage after the Latch gave out.
