5 years

Today, the 13th, marks 5 years since I took delivery of my then-new MY09 V8 Vantage. It was the realization of a dream, and it's been a wonderful 5 years. I still get a thrill every time I drive it, and even every time I look at it. I've driven all the latest "competition," and nothing has made me want to make a change. It has been superbly reliable (only the AM radio band died several years ago, under the original warranty). Also, today would have been the last day of the expensive extended warranty -- which I did not buy. Total cost of repairs during the two years out of warranty: $0.00. Wonderful car to own and drive.

How many miles have you racked up in 5 years? I have a 09 as well. Coming up on 2 years under my ownership, roughly 4k miles per year. Total out of warranty repair bill is about $150. I feel the car gets better the more time you spend with it and the more you drive it.

I just hit the 3 year mark on mine and still love it! Glad to hear the 5 year mark will still be as rewarding!

Well that Bode well for people like me that just bought an 07 in August 2900 miles. I now have 5200 miles on it still going strong. I currently have an Aston one year preowned car warranty I'm debating whether or not to get the extended warranty near the end of my first year which would be next July.

It's still a great pleasure to drive and always puts a smile on my face. I have almost 10,000KM on my V8V after exactly 5 years!

I have not owned mine as long as many of you (1 year + 1 month), but have already put 13,000 miles on it. Its my DD, and I couldn't be happier!

Congrats! If I had kept my '09 V8V I'd have had it for 6 years this past August. It's always easy to remember negative posts so it's great to hear that your experience has been a good one. I believe that these are pretty robust cars and they like to be properly driven, not coddled under a cover, so well done!

Thanks for the good words. About the mileage -- not enough, about 7500. Of course, some things may go wrong due to miles, some due to a lack of miles, and some just due to time. The low mileage is not due to any effort to keep it low, rather it's just a result of a lack of time. My commute is a 7 minute drive to a train station, then on the train, and I see no reason to drive the V8V for such a short and uninteresting drive just to leave it in a big parking lot all day. So it's a weekend/fun car. I have two great kids (no, I don't have other kids who aren't great) and only 1 passenger seat. Living in the northeast, it doesn't go out when the roads are salty. Also, my "fun" driving is split between the V8V and a 993 Carrera. So, while I don't use it as much as I'd like to, I really drive it when I drive it, and I thoroughly enjoy every mile.

My '08 V8V is 5 1/2 years old. I've owned it for the past 4 1/2. Bought it with 4,500 miles on the ODO, and it now has 28,000. All problems were fixed under warrantee, no problems since then.

Extended warranty for known problems?

Have had my '07 coupe just over 7 years and have just over 21K on the clock. It had all the usual '07 niggles during the 36 month warranty which kept me going back to the dealer on a regular basis (during our drive season).

Only problem since end of warranty was a failed thermostat. I was surprised it too wasn't covered, even though it was beyond the 36 months.

AM knew of the problem, knew the vendor (German), knew why it failed and when it would fail, and could isolate the cars on which it would fail (not a huge number) by serial number.

When I showed the part I had removed to my tech he smiled and said, "Oh yea, I've done a few of those".

I also have a 2007 Vantage with about 9 months left of a preowned Aston Martin warranty to go. What sorts of usual problems did you have with your 2007?

Thanks for the update Speedraser... sounds like you're having a great time with it.

I had met you at Westbury gardens a couple of years back. I'm not sure if they have that show anymore but if they do hopefully you'll get to see my '07! Just turned over 7k miles last week

Best of luck and post some pics!
-Peter
