Fabspeed "X" pipe cat delete installed.

I installed the RSC Super sport exhaust a couple years ago and have been pretty happy with it but I wanted to do something with the cats to get a little more power, throttle response etc. I was very concerned that just going with straight cat delete pipes the car would just be way to loud and aggressive.

I saw a video of a Rapide with the Fabspeed "X" pipe and really loved the exotic sound produced from it so I thought I'd pull the trigger and give it a try. Hoping it wouldn't be too much with my already aggressive muffler.

I installed it this morning and all I can say is WOW! It sounds absolutely amazing and the throttle response is very noticeably better. I would describe the sound as more "exotic". A higher pitch, very pure and crisp tone. I couldn't have asked for more. I'm going to try to make a video for a sound clip when I have some time.

The installation was a breeze. Came with new hardware and everything was pretty self explanatory. I wish it would have included a new flange gasket but I just reused the old one with no issues. Here are a few pictures.

Great work Speedracer800 and awesome pictures too! I was just curious if you had any error messages that came up after the installation, if i remember correctly, there are o2 censors that plug into the cats, Im thinking of getting the same X pipe system along with Stuart's Velocity headers

Thank you. No O2 sensors on the secondary cats.. At least not on the DB9. No error message either. Seems to be just perfect. Stuarts headers could be my next move too.

Stuart: Do you offer this set-up for the Vantage S? If so, will it be too loud? Will it offer any noticeable increase in performance? Perhaps this with the revised ECU with the "muffler baffles" programmed to open @ 4000 rpm instead of 3000 rpm as it does now might be the right set-up for me...

I've been running a Fabspeed "X" pipe on my DB9 with a Quicksilver Supersport exhaust for about a year. ALL positive - no issues!

Good to hear. Man it sounds nice! Did you notice an increase in power? Sure seems to rev up quicker at idle but it's going to be a long few months before winter breaks and I can drive the car again.. Agonizing..

I installed the x-pipe on my Vantage and I won the couple and some horses. Great buy!

Is your car any louder or just a diffrient tone? I'm running the supersport system on my DBS and would love this for the performance aspect but definitely wouldnt want my car any louder.

That was a HUGE concern I had also. It's what kept me from doing it sooner. I really believe that the car is actually quieter now. Meaning it took some of the "raspyness" out of it. Definitely not louder.. Not at all. It does have a more exotic, higher pitch though. Kind of reminds me of the Larini system I was considering before settling on the RSC Supersport exhaust. PM me if you like and I can try to send you a video or something if that helps.

speedracer800-You and your car need some Florida sunshine! The note from the V12 is louder and crisper.....but not obnoxious, IMHO. On a Volante it might be a different story on the road. I'm told that HP increase might be 25 to 40?
anton28, I really believe these WILL make your DBS louder. A good louder !
I'm happy with my set-up and have had many (all) positive comments from others, including fellow Aston owners.

His modification is only for 2010+ v8s. You cannot do this on older cats because there are o2 sensors in the cats. The older v8s only had primaries with no cats in the secondaries. The 2010+ moved the primaries into the headers and had extra set of secondaries with no O2 sensors hence why you can do this.

I have always said for years putting the X-pipe where the cats are is the best way to improve the stock exhaust system. If you do this mod you won't need to do anything else to the entire exhaust system.

Some dyno charts would have been nice tho

Not at present, but I would be interested in developing it. For a Vantage 'S' or any of the 2011-on cars it would be a secondary cat delete only, primaries are still in the manifold section unlike the earlier cars.

Reprogram of the ECU with later opening valves is no problem. I'm sure you would see some performance gains from this setup. Nothing mind-blowing but removing cats always helps and the X-pipe will help with scavenging too.

I'll shoot you an email, maybe we can discuss.

Sounds clip

So this is my first attempt at recording a video an uploading to Youtube so keep that in mind.

The car was warmed up before being restarted for the video and of course the garage door had to be opened and its 5 degrees outside so the steam is a bit of a distraction but I think the sound recorded fairly well.
