Power Kit Improvements Yield Huge HP Gains for New Vanquish, DB9, V12VS and Rapide S

Hi Everyone,

You may remember, we confirmed the release of our Power Kit for the 2013-on Vanquish, DB9, Rapide S, & V12VS Here:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...power-kit.html

This package produced +41RWHP.

At this time, although these results were very good for a normally aspirated car, we could see that there were some areas for improvement, particularly related to the new variable valve timing and related emissions controls which were introduced for the 2013 Model Year/Facelift cars. The package was working well as you can see from the videos, but there was still some work to do, especially in sorting LT and ST fuel trims in closed loop.

As a result of a further 28 hours of dyno research, we have been able to advance the tuning on this engine. Substantially. For this 2014 Vanquish, we were able to achieve gains of 104WHP, and 69RWTQ. This dyno is very well respected, re-calibrated every two weeks to account for bearing wear and is climate compensated.

If you accept/assume that this car began with the manufacturer's stated outputs of 565BHP and 457ft/lbs at the crank, these wheel gains translate to +130.57BHP, and +76.53ft/lbs at the flywheel. As you can see from the dyno sheet, the gains in both HP and torque are broad all through the RPM range.

Final output should be IRO 695BHP, and 534ft/lbs at the crank. Simply astonishing numbers. My feeling on this drivetrain upgrade is that there was simply more on tap than was released. Perhaps this is related to the the new roadgoing GT3 car to be released with a projected 600+HP???

This package is available, not just for the Vanquish, but also for the V12VS, Rapide S, and New DB9. The V12VS should return similar numbers to the Vanquish, and the Rapide S not far back of that.

The DB9 on the other hand will do even better, in a sense. Although it lacks the variable/flapped intake system that is on the Vanquish, which is worth about 15BHP, it has an even bigger advantage in terms of gains: It is sandbagged from the factory. We have installed this package on a 2014 DB9, and found that the vast majority of the difference in power output between the DB9 & Vanquish is that it is software limited. Quite simply put, it is deliberately de-tuned through software. So given the same results, minus the airbox, a DB9 should show around 680BHP. A gain of 170BHP over the stock setup, or around 135RWHP.

If you're interested in ordering, please get in touch, we have a 3 week wait list at present for V12 manifolds and I have a feeling that list might be about to grow

What can you do with the V12V motor?

Obviously no variable valve timing to mess with, but still gains in the software?

Hi Jeff,

On these we see 50HP Gains, which actually, for a normally aspirated car is pretty good. They share the same manifold setup as the newer cars and it is very restrictive.

We did this suite of modifications in Inconel 625 on this Zagato, and the owner drove back to back with the V12VS and said the Zagato was much quicker. So you should be able to get V12VS levels of performance and still keep your manual box!

2004 ---) 2012 it is 50BHP. This would include 450 & 470 BHP DB9, DBS, V12V, Zagato, Virage & Rapide.

2013-on it is as posted above, 104WHP, so roughly 130BHP for a Vanquish, Rapide S or V12VS. For a DB9, which is de-tuned down from the aforementioned 3 to begin with, the gains are even bigger. The new DB9 models have 40BHP to be gained just from bringing the torque driver demand tables in line with those on the Vanquish.

The introduction of the updated V12 powertrain is the reason for the difference. The new platform has variable cam timing, comes with more complicated emissions etc. However, it also appears to have been sandbagged quite a bit. Rumours are that the V12V GT3 road car will have 600+BHP, so I suspect that some HP was left on the table to accommodate that. Just a guess.

Did anyone do this to their car and have any feedback on the longevity? Any transmission issues?

Stuart can we get one of these for the 2019+ vantage? The AMG air intakes are ridiculous.

We expect the results to be pretty similar to the earlier cars - around 55-60BHP & 40-45ft/lbs.

The later model DB9 had a detuned version of the 565BHP Vanquish Engine, so you're probably looking at around 580-585 dependign on your fuel quality.
