Eurocharged V2 Tune!
Eurocharged V2 Tune!
I recently got in touch with Jerry for the Eurocharged V2 tune for my 4.3 AM V8. I actually spoke with Jerry a few times as I kept going back and forth over where to spend my modification allowances. I already had the RSC Live Tune and i did not feel much of any difference and I was hesitant to spend any more money on another tune since I expected similar results.
So instead during the past 6 months I spent money on the RSC lightweight flywheel/clutch (also due to a blown clutch), Wilwood 2pc rotors, RSC air filters, 200 cell KH cats. Oh also have the KW V3 coilovers which i love.
The RSC flywheel/clutch is awesome, as with the wilwood rotors. Both made the car more responsive and quicker on its feet. However, after reading reviews of the Eurocharged tune I wanted more. I was still slower than my buddies E92 M3 (although it is lightened 150lbs, tuned, decatted) during a recent rally. It really bothered me to slower than my previous car.
After reading 007's review on his EC tune and almost hanging with Gallardos i had to give it a try.
Jerry and Phil, remote tuned my car with a laptop and a handheld tuning device. It took about 7-8min to download my cars tune profile via OBDII. 10 min to send it back to Jerry and receive a custom EC tune file. Then another 7-8min to go back to the Aston and delete the old file and upload the new file.
Today is the first day i was able to take the car for a long drive. I did a 200 mile drive from OC to LA to various locations then back to OC.
The car definitely feels much faster. There is an extra torquey kick from 3k and up. The car is much more lively and acceleration is noticeable. The power pulls all the way to the new 7700 redline. It feels awesome with the lightweight flywheel/clutch...Noise and spool of the engine feels so mechanical and raw. The real power is still up top. The biggest increase seems to be from 5-7k.
I am not gonna dyno the car simply because i don't have the time and I don't have pre-modification dynos to compare to. However, my E92 M3 with decat, tune and 200lb lightened put down ~267whp on the EAS dynojet and i have to say my AMV8 now feels faster than my M3. I am now satisfied with the performance of my AMV8 and the itch for forced induction has dissipated.
I am very happy with my EC tune. I wish they keep developing the tune and come out with a V3.
The only thing i wish Jerry could have done was decrease the fuel delivery while not on the gas to enhance the engine braking. I love engine braking on the R8 and the M, which decreased my need for braking by 50% on the freeway and it also worked well at the track. I wish i can get the same feel on the Aston.

Thanks for sharing your review.
Your list of mods sound great, and your recent addition of the euro charged tune is the icing on the cake.
Aside from the increased speed, has the tune been trouble free? Are you getting any "check engine light" issues?

I had my KH cats early on. Honestly I didn't notice the difference with the KH cats like I did with the tune. It was significantly louder so i took them off a week after they were installed.
Eventually i may put the cats on but in conjunction with headers, and xpipe to help silence noise a bit.
Sorry but i really didnt help answer any of your questions.
I think the next mod is the RSC final drive ratio kit.

Thanks for your reply! I am able to deduce that you had the tune without the KH cats which was what I was looking for

I've always said eurocharged has the best tune for the Astons, glad to see more are starting to see the light
.
I dynoed 36whp at the wheels with the eurocharged v2, and roughly 15-18hp throughout the power band with the KH cats on top of the tune. Combined they make for one hell of a combination.
As Is aid, with those two combined, the desire (or need) for forced induction becomes virtually zero. It really is the perfect amount of power for the V8 platform for an around town GT. The KH are a little loud between 3k-4k but after that it turns into the most sweet musical note. 5k+ it is one of the most amazing v8 sounds I have ever heard (and my daily is a 6.3L AMG).
Considering you can get 55-60 crank HP from just two modifications at such a reasonable price, it's a no brainer to do the combo. I was going to go back to them to have them develop V3 (adjust the tune for cats) in hopes of picking up another 4-5hp. But I ended up selling the cars a few weeks back.
I will be back some day (hopefully with the V12S), but for now the next tune will have to wait
Congrats on getting the tune done!
