I'm new to the Aston world. Just picked up an 06' DB9, Meteorite Silver, Bison Brown interior, and manual trans with 9200 miles. (Pics to come)I've already been through my first "bonding" session Must say, I'm in love. What a machine!
I took everyone's advice and downloaded the maintenance manual from Aston, as well as all the service bulletins and everything else I could get my grubby hands on. Next step, DIY items: oil change, coolant flush, air filters, transaxle oil, and pollen filters.
Few questions...
Where in the heck are the pollen filters? Can't find a location ref anywhere!
I read all the posts on the dipstick bulletin. Mine has the same numbers as the required new one but it ends in a "B" instead of a "C". Is this an old one? Aston has no record of the service being completed.
When I turn on my radio, it says Linn 950 Watt Dolby Pro Logic. Does this mean I have the upgraded system?
Welcome- The pollen filters are behind the glove box. I used DIY pics/guide posted to help when I changed mine. Don't break those plastic tabs! It looks like your Linn might just be is the upgraded version.
There is a ton of DIY info in the Frequently ask questions section here. Filter changes, dipstick info, oil changes. This forum has allot of knowledgeable contributors. So you have a stick DB9.....nice. Enjoy the car!
Thanks to all the great DIY posts, I completed all the service items with no problems.
Tip...When draining the coolant, after unscrewing the plug, give it a good yank to pull it all the way out. Plan to catch the coolant about 2 ft away! If the plug isn't pulled all the way out, the coolant sprays everywhere. Only thing I could think of when getting soaked was the old lady in that hot sauce commercial, where she says " I put that Sh!@ on everything"
Definitely make sure your car has had the oil dipstick recall done and transmission cooler lines fixed. If they say the transmission cooler lines are "fine" for now its only a matter of time before they leak, so definitely get this done as a preventive maintenance type of thing. Otherwise these cars are pretty bullet proof if maintained properly! Enjoy!
