VelocityAP V8 Vantage X-Pipe Exhaust Center Section
Hi Everyone,
Pleased to announce we are now offering X-Pipe Center sections for the V8 Vantage. A great option for those who want the X-Pipe sound without replacing the back box.
I have a 6speeder who is doing independent dyno testing on these, expect to see some small gains.
It is also compatible with our Power Packs, and rear silencers. Totally interchangeable.

Great product, any dyno charts of just the X-pipe on stock car? What about with and without High Flow Cats?
I have a 6speeder who is doing some testing.

Thanks guys. We'll be able to post before & after sound clips which someone is doing with a pretty good mic setup. The car already has 200 cell cats (it's an '07) but it should still give a good idea of the change in sound.

The first thing you need to know about the X-pipe is that it's a fantastic addition.
At idle and low rpm, the tone is pretty much the same, just as bass-y, but the bwap-bwap-bwap of the stock setup is noticeably refined and smoothed out to lower the overall volume. The smoothness is more noticeable with fuse 22 in, just the stock setup.
The story changes at full chat with the valves open. The more trumpet-Y range present on the stock pipes is louder, with the more bass-y range is not quite as prominent, giving the impression that the pitch is higher. It's more of a wail now, more like a V8 Ferrari, but not as high a pitch as, say an F355.
I have 200-cell catalysts (HIGHLY recommended) installed, and prior to the X-pipe I found the factory valve map too loud for neighborhood driving, at 23mph in 5th gear. A custom exhaust map worked great for keeping things quiet. With the X-pipe, though, the custom map wasn't necessary. It's more quiet loafing around, but just as loud at full throttle, broadening the difference between Jeckyl and Hyde when you really give it the beans. Tends to broaden the smile a bit more, too.
I DO have before- and after- sound files, but the "after" needs to be re-recorded, as it was done with one valve disconnected. (operator error, go figure) I'll get them posted here ASAP, hopefully within seven days. Somebody rattle my cage if they're not posted by then.
Installation was done professionally, and I was told the fit was perfect.
I did dynos before- and after-, and Stuart has those results. Nothing major, but some ft-lbs were added for sure.
Full disclosure: Stuart gave me a great deal on this X-pipe prototype in exchange for being the Guinea pig and giving my feedback. And recordings. And some other stuff.
If you're struggling to find much difference, you're not alone. The character has changed in that the idle is slightly less bass-y, and the drive-by is more refined. The volume has been normalized between the two recordings, and a pop filter was used.
It's either placebo effect or that the sound change from inside the car is more noticeable than from outside, but I'm disappointed that I'm not able to share the level of improvement here.
