Please help! Radio not working after attempting Dension install.
Really hoping somebody can help! Tonight, I attempted the Dension install. Removed all the appropriate panels, and I wired the power from the cigarette adapter. Then, I unplugged the optical cord from the existing audio system and plugged in my Dension unit. To test the unit, I turned over the key and the screen lit up showing the outside temperature (default for radio turned off). I then pressed the radio power button and I saw the typical "Vantage Audio" logo before it turned right back off to the temperature screen. Because of this, I wanted to test the optical wire back in it's original configuration, so I removed the Dension unit, plugged the optical cable back into the radio, and repeated the test. Same results! The radio is now not working in it's original configuration.
Thinking it also might be related, the door windows now don't auto rise/lower when closing/opening the door.
I checked the fuses in the trunk and the ones under the passenger footwell, and they're good.
What do you suggest?

Do remember to keep the trickle-charge on your battery since Audio-related work seems to drain the battery quick (it did on mine).
Good luck!

I've been struggling myself for months (as you may heave read) without a working sytem untill today.. What you're describing is what I've encountered a number of times as well. Since you're back in the original configuration I suggest to pull the fuses (the 2 in the foot well that power the radio and mid-console, can't remember the no's) and leave these-out for 10 minutes.

So, resetting the audio system by leaving those fuses out for 10 min finally solved your problem?

In my case it did solve the issue of the none-working radio. Still don't have that Dension up and running though.
Also, make sure you have the latest firmware on your Dension: http://www.dension.com/knowledge-bas...my-gateway-500

You may have blown another fuse since your cigarette power is out. Our cars have Volvo systems with the 6CD-changer being a well known trouble-child.

Also, looks like the cigarette port is just a loose wire.
Only remaining problem is the radio - I will get to pulling the audio fuses tonight. Fingers crossed that it works. When replacing the carpet for the fuses, do any of you use extra tape or glue? The existing tape is shot.

One thing I do notice with the optical cables is that there is light coming out of the radio where the cable plugs into but no light coming out of the cable.
What next? Any other things I can check? I wonder why others haven't had this problem when upgrading their systems.

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. Left the two fuses out for 10 minutes, plugged them back in, powered up the car and the radio still cannot get past the "vantage audio" screen.

If they light is not "looped" your systems won't work.
Do you have power on your cigarette socket back yet?

If the light comes from the radio, but once you connect the fiber optic to that output/light and the fiber optic does not transfers the light, the cable is broken. Try to replace it with a cable supplied with the Dension.

So, I'm still stuck. It's been over a month, and I'm without a radio or CD player (I drive my car everyday, as it's my only car). Somehow, unplugging and re-plugging in the optical cord from the main console messed something up. The wires are in their exact original configuration, and my Dension unit is still sitting in my garage. Everything else in the car works, except the radio. Super frustrating...
Since having the problem, I've moved to Minneapolis, and there are only a couple exotic car audio specialists out here. Neither can figure it out.

did you take the optical cable out of the black tyco connector (has a blue retaining clip that needs removed???) if so, reverse the optical cables from where they are currently are and retry.
I seen my fair share of cut optical cables, but never in my life seen a broken one by removing the radio
