Ahhh...back in V12 territory again with the DB9
I bought my DB9 a couple weeks back, and after a drive today I reflected on what makes this car feel so good despite being bigger, heavier and on lousy worn and mismatched tires. The answer is the V12 and limitless power that I've not had in my two previous cars.
The 4.3 V8VR was sporty and agile but lackluster in the engine department. It had pep but you had work the paddles to get anywhere fast. My Merc SL500 was also a comedown from the SL600 I'd had previously, and I really missed that power of the V12 - reportedly a 3.6sec 0-60 by Car & Driver.
With the DB9 the fun has come back again and life is sweet once more. There were many times today on both a secondary twisty road and the motorway when the massive extra grunt just made the drive so much better. I just look and press and I'm there.
I don't often hear anyone talk about the silky acceleration of the V12, and I certainly don't take it for granted.
Just reflecting.
