Vantage Comfort Suspension vs. Sport Suspension

All-

The comfort suspension was suggested to me. However, I am not quite happy with the chassis dynamics during spirited driving.

What components would I need to change to go from a comfort suspension to a sport suspension. Is this just a functions of springs/shocks, or am I looking at bushings, springs, sway bars and shocks.

Perhaps we can get some input from Stuart of velocity and irish07, as well as Bamford Rose.

Thanks in advance.

My 2014 V8V coupe has the standard comfort suspension. I am very pleased with it's performance.
More stiffness wouldn't work for me

Yea passengers notice the compliant ride, but the "flapping in the wind" sensation is a bit much for me. I prefer a car that corners totally flat.

I don't drive it enough to worry about a rough ride, anyway.

Funny, I have the comfort suspension on my car and I quite like it. Drive it hard, do several track days a year and really think the combination of ride/handling is sublime.
Stuart: How does your lower spring set-up compare with the two suspension options offered by OEM?

Interesting. The discernment is when facing unpredictable/unknown roads. Typically, in this environment, the chassis is subjected to irregular forces. Not sure if this would be the case on a closed road course.

I have the sports suspension in my 2009 V8 Vantage and I'm actually tempted to downgrade it. I get bumped around a fair bit on the highway unless the surface it perfectly smooth, which it rarely is here. On the streets vibrations gets transmitted into the cabin and causes some creaks and rattles. I'd appreciate any tips on how to affordably improve the comfort of the ride.

Have a 14 V8V with the standard comfort suspension and its plenty stiff enough. Still feels like a go-cart compared with my Volvo DD which has adjustable suspension. Hard to imagine something stiffer (that you couldn't switch off) being a good choice for everyday use.

On unpredictable roads, usually a better shock & spring combo with great damping will make a world's difference. Just being stiffer will only make the car "bouncier" and feeling less confidence. My lotus exige rides about as harsh as the AM, but on the same bumpy back country roads I can drive a great deal faster in the lotus because whereas the AM gets tossed around (feeling like at any time there is a wheel off the ground), the lotus soaks it up without feeling like I am getting air time.

Sorry, as I know this does not answer your question. Bushing and other stuff will just up the stiffness of the car, so unless the sport suspension is just majorly stiffer than comfort, those will probably be the same.

I was under the impression that these are just the new names for Standard and Sportpack suspensions. Sportpack has a much higher rear spring rate, the front isn't that much different. Firmer damping to match the springs.

Dan, to answer your question, I'm not really sure that our spring sets are a straight up comparison to one suspension or the other as we have slightly different setups for the Sportpack to non-Sportpack cars.

Also because our spring rates are progressive they are much more adaptive. 'Smart Springs' allow the spring rate to change so that you get really sporty handling under load but much, much better ride quality.

So I guess a good example would be, if you put our springs on the sportpack car, you're going to be softening up the initial travel a little bit, less spring rate than the stock sportpack springs, but then progressively loading up to actually a much higher rate just before coil bind. Really the main objectives are to lower the car, and either not detract from, or in many cases (subjectively) improving the handling.
