BG Stop squeal would have cost you $20 and it would have done a better job without removing any of the pad material.

Next time just go with BG stop squeal

RudyP can I ask where you ordered them? I need to get this embarrassing squeal fixed. I sound like a city bus pulling up to a stop light.

SOLUTION
Edit: In case anyone reads this thread and has the squealing brakes. The original owner of my Aston Martin Vantage V8 paid Aston MArtin in Vancouver $1100 to fix this and it did not work. According to the work order they removed and cleaned the contact areas and reseated the pads with new shims.

I bought the car from the original owner who was embarrassed to drive this car in city traffic due to the squealing and gave up after forking out the money for nothing. After a week of driving with the squeal I too started to get embarrassed and found this thread.

I fixed it using CRC Disc Brake Quiet compound. It is like a high temp RTV that you apply directly on the pad backing. It turns rubber like and absorbs any vibrations that resonate into squeal. I put a thin coating underneath the shim and on top of the shim. I put it on all 12 pads (inc. parking brake pads) let it sit for an hour then re-assembled the brakes. Been 2 months now and no squealing. Also no reduction in braking ability The CRC Disc Brake Quiet was $7.95 for the bottle.

BTW - I am affiliated with no one - just a petrol head
