Nav screen rattle?

Hello. The nav screen rattles on my 09 Vantage. When the screen is flush with the dash, closed, there is some play in it? I did a search and it didn't turn up much? Gears?

If the screen raises and lowers properly the gears are fine.

Rattling is most likely caused by a loose fit between the nav screen unit and the trim panel that covers it.

I don't know if an '09 is the same as an '07 regarding how the trim panel is attached to the screen unit, but once you know the secret to separating the two it is a trivial matter to install some padding between them. On an 07 the trim is held down by two spring arms that slip into slots on the underside of the trim cover. Later cars might be even simpler and use plastic latches on either side of the screen unit. I've separated mine numerous times and can do it in less than 15 seconds now

There are a few threads on the boards here that explain how to detach the cover from the screen, a search should reveal those.

Thanks! The cover is held down by the springs. Takes a couple of minutes to detach them. I think I have a solution for the rattle. Looks like this is a know issue.
