I got to check out the new DB11 last night and I thought some on here might appreciate some "candid" shots of the car. I have to say it is very impressive in person. The attention to detail on the car is amazing and everything just flows so well.
The car is a demo car from CA, being brought around to give the people who put a deposit down on one a chance to get to see the vehicle before deliveries start later this year. The picture quality isn't the best, as the sun was starting to go down and I was just walking around with my phone.
The badge on the slam panel is 24K gold... i am guessing that is an upgrade
Can kind of see the gaps in the c pillar that allows the aeroblade to function.
The guy from AM that is traveling with the car said the DB11 hood is the largest single piece manufactured for any current production car. They wanted to minimize all seams so went to great lengths to engineer this as a single piece.
I regret that I didn't get any interior shots. The seats were extremely comfortable, had some pretty intense quilting, and also had the ventilation system installed. When sitting in the cabin, it felt modern and didn't really seem overwhelming despite some of the Mercedes tech that is integrated.
Wheels stink. They look like some cheapo aftermarket ricer types (but easy to change).
License plate bumperettes look terrible. They aren't particularly good on the DB9, but these seem worse to me.
Wonder how long those huge bonnet cutouts will remain perfectly aligned to the headlamps. It looks odd to see the bonnet w/o the headlamps in place. Are there any other clamshell designs that do it this way?
I also don't like the lack of curvature symmetry in the front wheel arch, especially as compared with the rear.
It took me quite a while to like the Vanquish. I'm afraid this new design will take me a LOT longer. The one good thing? I'm not pining for a new love to spend my money on...
Small observation - I like the quilted heat padding under the hood/bonnet. It looks to be way better than the black padding on my DB9 that is always partially falling out every time I pop the hood. It's all about the details. :-)
Super camera and thanx for posting. The design on the hood reads both super functional and stylishly proportioned! I'm also noticing different features in these pictures (daylight and outside) in comparison to the internet Geneva showroom shots...that rear tail plane design is premium sculpture brake light beautiful.
Sorry, like it less the more I see of it. A riot of conflicting lines and, to put it charitably, challenging shapes. And that vent opening to the fender behind the front wheel: what was Reichmann thinking???
Rear is weird, interior too busy, like 8 designers doing their own thing not collaborating... The 06 and 09 versions of the dash is much nicer than the convoluted mess of the Db11... Otherwise I like it.
