Price advice for a V8 Vantage
Carmen red of course.
I had a very early 65' FHC with late 64' interior trim touches-# 233 I think
My 65' OTS was also Carmen red. Both had black interiors.
The coupe was my favorite. Both were 100 point show cars and were rarely driven.
As a kid I bought a new 69 series II coupe in Ascot fawn/black from BMC in San Francisco.
Drove it cross country to CT.
Is yours a driver or show type?
My Volcano red MT V8V has only 600 miles-use it infrequently. My 15' R8 also gets very little use.
Longing for another vintage vehicle

It is now in condition # 2. So I am just driving to my local cars and coffee a few times a month.

My E-Type was restored in 2005, it was a show car for about 10 years. I do drive it about 500 miles a year. It was used by Jaguar during the Monterey car week for 2011 and 2012. It was also used in the TV show Mad Men.

Hi all - first post for me and this thread seems to be a good starting point. Not trying to hijack -- just looking for info and reading and leaning as much as I can.
I'm thinking about stepping up and buying a 2009 V8V and have a couple of questions:
First, I read about the AM extended warranty for cars under 10 years old. Can anyone tell me if the extended warranty can be purchased for any used AM or is it only offered by AM dealers on certified vehicles they sell? The car I am looking at is not at an AM dealer so I assume the warranty cannot be purchased. Is that true?
Second -- having the complete maintenance history/records on the car is obviously important. Can any AM dealer pull the service history and any car? I'd be interested in people's opinions on cars that don't have the maintenance history. Is not having a maintenance history a big enough red flag to pass on a car? I understand that statement is subjective -- if you can afford the car you need to be able to afford the maintenance that comes with it, but at the same time I don't want to be stupid with my money.
I'd appreciate current owners thoughts.

If you pay for an AM dealer to perform the warranty inspection, they can then offer the warranty if it comes back clean.
Second -- having the complete maintenance history/records on the car is obviously important. Can any AM dealer pull the service history and any car? Only the servicing dealer can provide you that, they do not share 1 common service system. I'd be interested in people's opinions on cars that don't have the maintenance history. Is not having a maintenance history a big enough red flag to pass on a car? Personally, yes. I understand that statement is subjective -- if you can afford the car you need to be able to afford the maintenance that comes with it, but at the same time I don't want to be stupid with my money.

All maintenance history does is showing some insight into how the car was taken care of and what kind of faults the car had. It is not a predictive indicator in how much you might have to spend in your ownership.
That said not having it is not a red flag, but it makes it riskier that you might be out a lot of $$$ during your ownership. Service records, PPI, warranty etc are all just hedges against owning a junk.

@mkzhang and @shootermcgav1n - thanks for your comments on the warranty and maintenance records. Any used car comes with risks and I'm just trying to minimize the exposure as much as I can because some repair costs can get out of control in a hurry. Thanks again for replying.
Thanks for the kind words guys. It is a great car, however it is a lot of work to keep it at a show car level. So after 12 years of showing it after my 2005 restoration. My E-Type is officially retired from hard-core show car duty and now it is just cars and coffee and Sunday drives.
