Anyone use a Valentine 1 savvy on there vantage?
Hi all,
Helping a friend out with his V8 Vantage. He is remote so I have not seen the car, but he has a Valentine 1 radar detector and doesn't want to have it permanently installed. I heard that the Savvy accessory might work, but it plugs into the ODB2 port which I find kind of scary. Has anyone used this accessory on the Vantage without any scary side effects? He has a 2006.
Also, he states he can't find the ODB2 port plug . I told him it should be under the steering wheel towards the right. He stated that he did find it with the sticker saying ODB2 port on it, but the hole where the plug should be is just walled off with plastic. Nothing is actually in there it just has a plastic wall in it instead. Can anyone offer guidance on what may be going on here?
Thanks much all!

I have used the Savvy on all of my Astons and it works great. Besides making it super easy to wire the detector to power on with the ignition, another great benefit is the ability to choose a vehicle speed below which the detector will auto-mute. Search for some threads on using OBD2 scanners. I have some posts there on where the ports are located.

Valentine I functionality
I've been using a Valentine I for quite some time now. I've noticed that with more and more cars are using radar-based lane assist, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance etc the Valentine warning is activated by other cars. Has anybody else noticed this with their Valentines or is mine malfunctioning? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Yes, it's really annoying. My trusty Valentine 1 has become an Audi detector. If they're driving just ahead of me, the bogey counter keeps going up until I get 7 or 8 of them. Really makes the detector less usable.

They have this new-fangled thing now called "the Google". You should look it up.

I use the Savvy module works fine. Also the new valentines don't pick up the land departure radar. I had mine updated about 6 months ago and is much less annoying. The bad thing is that most highway patrol in my area anyway use Lidar during the day. This makes Waze essential as I found out last month I got picked off in fairly heavy traffic by a Mass state trooper. He looked at the V1 and said "I bet that didn't even go off" He then went on to tell me they only use radar in stalker mode off the interstate and at night otherwise any traps are only set up using lidar.

Thanks for reply all! Sounds like it's okay to plug in the device and it won't effect the aston. Question is where are you guys plugging it in? Which ODB2 port? According to my friend he is still unable to find it. He took some images and it is indeed showing the sticker under the steering wheel but there isn't anything in the hole except a black wall of plastic.

valentines new junk K fighter upgrade really does work and keeps the false alarms to a minimum. Unfortunately it appears radar detectors are becoming more of a sense of false security.
As for the OBD port there is one straight down from the steering wheel on my 2012vantage that I've plugged into now for the past year without problems
