Reproduction N400 Rear Diffuser

I was doing my usual web searching last week and found a UK company that was selling some Carbon Fiber parts for Aston Martin. The Company name is
Deutsch Tech Designs and I found that their price for the Rear Diffuser was excellent including shipping to Ontario, Canada. I ordered the part on Sunday and they shipped it to me on Monday and to my surprise it was home when I got home tonight The part was very well packaged, paper - white foam - plastic bag - bubble rap - cardboard box. I have attached some pictures below and will be test fitting it on the weekend and report back with some more photos.

PS: I had to contact them in order to setup shipping to Canada as they only had a choice for UK Free Shipping

Can't wait to see it installed!

I'll put up some pics of the OEM one when mine gets here so we can see if there are any major differences.

Hey Handyman - if you're interested in new body parts for your AM - Mantella Racing in Toronto are offloading all their Aston Martin v8 spares. When I was down there yesterday they had the newer bumper and side-skirts and a wide variety of mechanical items (they kept OE body part spares for racing) The side skirts were $120 each - the upper or lower bumper was about $130 if I recall. Carbon fibre door skins too but I doubt you could use them for daily driving.

I wasn't interested in body parts but I picked up most PM items (AM OE) for a fraction of the cost. They have an ad on Kijiji - ask for Corson.

Thanks but the only other parts I wanted/need are the V12 Sills and possibly a passenger mirror arm as mine lost some paint and need fixing. I was talking to Corson a few weeks ago but he already had his mirror sold and the sills he has are the same as I have on my car...

After some fun this morning I was able to test fit my new part, looks really good. I noticed that the old mesh was use to clip the bumper firmly in place (about four clips if I recall) but now that those mesh are removed those 4 clips have nothing to clip onto... So what I did is behind the license plate I added two self tapping screws to keep the plastic bumper close to the support beam and that worked really nicely. At this time it is only held by two way tape, I have not decided yet if I will do a permanent install or return everything back the way it was for now as I want to get all my carbon fiber parts Ghost Black cleared as I believe it will look better with the color of my car (Meteorite Silver).

I just took a look at my diffuser. Looks like the main difference between OEM and the one pictured above is the weave on the OEM piece goes at opposite 45 degree angles starting at the middle of the piece whereas the reproduction goes the same direction throughout. Nice looking piece!

My QuickJack made this job a lot easier, Here is some pictures of the final installation, at least for now...

Fitment looks great! I think you're right about the color matching the paint a bit much - the ghosting should make it pop a lot more.

Thanks! I just picked up a new GoPro Hero 4 Black to replace my old Hero 2, plus some other stuff so the videos should be much better going forward. I'm going to redo some of the videos I've already done, too. Lots of lessons learned from doing these lol.

How was the diffuser installation? Any tips or tricks?

The installation is definitely a harder job than I first thought. A two person job is needed at times, specially removing and installing the bumper. The electrical connectors are a pain, on the driver side I removed the entire little metal box as I couldn't get the connector off. You will have to drill 8 x holes to hold the new Carbon Fiber diffuser on as it attach to the edge of the bumper. I center the piece on the bumper and flush the bumper and the diffuser, clamped it there and drill the first 2 hole in the middle then did the rest of them going outwards. If you want to add 2 way tape, put it more towards the inside edge as mine is showing a little but I have to remove it to get it painted so I will fix it then. I took my time and it was soooo hot in my garage, I took it slow and did it in 2 days but someone could do it in a day. Looking forward to seeing yours installed.

PS: the top middle edge of the bumper is held in place by industrial Velcro, I had to glue back mine on as one side came undone.
