Best microphone location
Best microphone location
I'm awaiting the arrival of a Grom Audio MST4 unit to add Bluetooth A2DP and hands free, and aux-in to my '06 DB9 Volante.
While I can make and receive calls via Bluetooth through the DB9's built-in system, I'll have a more modern, integrated system with the Grom, including music playback.
I'll also get a new microphone with the Grom Bluetooth, and I'm wondering if the standard mic locations high up by the rearview mirror or near the juncture of the windshield and the headliner are for installation convenience or because of proximity to the mouth and relatively low noise?
Where would you think is the optimal place in a DB9 Volante to mount a mic, regardless of ease of installation?
Thanks.

Hello Zuman,
My favourite location, when fitting microphones, is adjacent to the rear view mirror just by the interior light pod. It's a bit more discreet and won't suffer from wind noise if you have the window open slightly.
best regards,
James

Thanks, James.
I think that most of us regard you as the definitive source in issues such as this, so your word is good enough for me!
And I wouldn't have even begun this project if you were within a thousand miles of me!
