Key FOB fell apart

Has this happened to anyone? Fell off when I was taking it out of my pocket and I lost the top portion. Didn't even drop it. It must of just popped off.

Any suggestions or do I have to buy a replacement FOB from Aston?

Yes, Put in your drawer and use the real key

I never use the plastic ones. Even bought a bad glass one and transfered the guts from my Valet into it so have 2 glass ones.

I only use the plastic one when I bring it in for service!

Ha! I would if I wasn't Mr. Butterfingers.

I mostly do take the glass one...I take the valet key when running errands.

The trick is to keep it in the leather case, and only remove the key from that case when you're in the car sitting down. This way, if it drops then it will fall a short distance into your lap. Butterfingers issue solved!

Is it possible to convert the plastic key to a glass key. I notice astonbits sells the casing for both the plastic and glass key.

If so, how hard would that be?

As stated earlier, thats what I did. Took me about 20 minutes. Have a post on it either here or Pistonheads. Can't find the post but here are the pics

Parts from Valet swapped into glass key. A few dabs of glue at the corners and put it back together.

That's a great write up for key fob swaps.

In the mean while, my little mod will just do it for me to make the plastic valet key seem not so cheap.

Logo was a genuine AM pin ordered from OutMotoring (a site sponsor) with its back prong cut off.
Originally I was going to do a flush/recessed mount by cutting into the top piece of the plastic fob. But quickly realized that top piece was too thin for the full thickness of the metal logo. So I end up just epoxied the pin logo instead. Not the best way to go I know....but it's better than just plain old plastic as before.
