Call me crazy, but i need more noise!

Hi guys, many people will think i'm crazy but i need more noise from my Vantage. Its a 4.3 with prodrive 200 cell cats and a tubi backbox. I only use the car one or twice a month but as nice as it sounds right now i really want it to scream.

So far i have researched two options

1. GT4 spec straight pipes
2. Decat

I dont mind having a decat made up, only problem is I would be worried about the smell.

Anyone done anything similar??

just decat. the cats keep it from getting louder as the revs increase. you likely notice it gets louder in actual volume up to a point then just changes ton the rest of the way up. go decat and that will do the trick and still keep it quiet enough when it needs to be. go straight pipes w the cats and it will b obvious around town

I have de catted every motorcycle and half of my cars and NEVER EVER EVER had a car smell.

it must be the gas in your area then has something in it.
had done it on the v10 m6 and two v8 'ms and v8 m5 and did not hint of smell.

Ha that maybe true, I am based in the uk! Decat sounds good I'm hesitant to take it to my local exhaust place as they don't do a great job, anyone suggest where to get purchase the decats off the shelf??

I've had both the Xpipe decat as well as straight pipes with no additional smell at all. My Ferrari on the other hand.. Horrible with decat pipes so I understand your concern. Go ahead and do it.. Super cheap power and increased sound.

best part of the decat that nobody else will tell you is the bottom end power and response you'll improve. you might free up as much as 30lbs of tq on your 4.3 down low under the peak where as if you look at MAX GAINS ONLY you well him-haw about the decision. its truly night and day around town, on the track you'll only notice the noise! I really want to do it on my v12 coupled with the tune and ill end up seeing something like 100hp and 80lbs tq from my position, only thing holding me back is I want to keep it original as a collector piece.

decat REALLY makes all the difference (and if your have a turbo car... its 10x even more so)

Just remember about doing the decat, some states have mobile sniff testers and you could get a serious fine, not likely but it does happen.
