I appreciate Aston Martin's desire to make some more hardcore versions of the Vantage, but they need to stop making them in such small numbers.
I assume "track-only" means it doesn't have the requisite emissions equipment for road use? I need more details about this car! lol

Just what we need. More limited edition cars for limited use and huge price tags. Show us the new Vantage. Something your normal customers can use. Something that sells in enough volume to keep the doors open. Just a thought.

Nothing new here except the body kit. Well, a couple pieces of the body kit. The car is just a mash-up of the GT4 race car and GT12 limited edition road car.

These are meant to be halo cars for Aston's new in-house tuning division (think M or AMG). How that actually translates to upcoming cars is yet to be seen. Hopefully they'll do some meaningful work.
At the end of the launch video with Andy he specifically stated the manual is not dead & Aston will always make a manual transmission vehicle. Unfortunately I cannot locate the 12 minute clip.
If only they'd make a manual Rapide -- I'd trade my automatic in on that in a heartbeat. There are precious few sports luxury sedans you can get in a manual still (BMW 5-series) and it would be nice if a performance manufacturer like Aston Martin stepped up to the plate with at least a few manuals.

it will be using the AMG GT motor (4.0L Twin turbo, 500+ HP)

Aston does this because somewhere there will always be someone with the oodles of cash ready to buy no questions asked just so they can say "I got one and you dont"

yeah, the c63 motor
hopefully it will lose the "AMG-ness" of tuning character with different valve lift/timing and diff sized turbos so its less grunty and guttural, and more of a lively sharp, mid-top end motor rather than a german muscle car torque curve.
Can you imagine an aston that sounds like a farting/burping merc? yuck
