I have all 6 caliper assemblies off the car so I could overhaul them.
Interestingly, two sets of pads had one side corroded into the caliper assembly. Took some brake cleaner, and some gentle rocking to get the pad loose. I scrapped all the surfaces and applied high temp brake grease to the wear points. It does explain the paint peeling on the caliper - it got hot...
All clean, greased and back on the car! A nice afternoon's work.
This is one of the reasons that I like to drive my car for a while after washing it. It gets the engine and brakes hot enough to evaporate any water away to keep things from corroding. I'm annoyed at looking at my crank pulley with it's surface rust. But from other pictures that I've seen, they all have it.

Kudos for attacking these jobs yourself. It's a great feeling to accomplish these tasks. I love working on my cars as much as driving them.
I haven't had the rotors off on the Aston, but usually removing the caliper and a few good whacks with a mallet will knock them loose. Were you using the rubber mallet to re-use the rotors?
The rotors had a large amount of surface rust on them, so they needed to come off. My first clue was that I'm pretty sure I was the first person to take the wheels off in 13 years... They took some beating as well. Then I took a piece of hardwood and rapped on it around the bolt circle for a while to break up the rust holding the rotor on. Lots of PB behind and through the bolt holes and some rapping got the rotors off. I've never seen any so welded on before...

Fun stuff for sure!
I recently changed the rotors on my 2007 as they were well below spec and I was getting the car ready for a track day. I'm guessing it was first change since new so they were well and truly rusted on. Ended up having to buy a Rotor Puller to get it done. Tried penetrating oil, tried putting a plumbers blow torch on it, and of course hitting with progressively larger hammers (didn't need to save rotors so could ding them up).It seems like the hub isn't a smooth surface which leaves a space for rust to build.
Last week I got an Emissions Warning followed by an Engine Service Red Urgent warning so I took my 2007 V8V to a local garage to have the codes read. It said there was a MAF issue. Since I had to order parts I decided to wait until they came and do it myself. There are good videos online by Redpants. I decided to replace them both and hopefully solve the issue. If you don't already know it these are not easy to get to. I had to remove the under tray and both front fender liners but that wasn't really so bad. I also went ahead and ordered a Foxwell NT520 OBD Reader so I could check and clear codes myself, they sent me the latest NT530 instead. The MAFs went in easily and I changed the air filters while I was in there as well. I cleared the codes and all seems to be well after a few drives and about 50 miles.
Hi...it takes three cold starts and getting up to operating temperature before you can relax.
My son cleared my codes on a sensor thinking it would solve the problem...it did till the third cold start...then we replaced the sensor...after three cold starts and running no code...
Rich at redpants is a really nice person.
Good luck but I bet you fixed your problem!
So far in the past few weeks I have changed the oil, installed a catch can, and installed the GT4 style airbox delete kit
I will make videos on how to do all of these (waaaay shorter than Rich's videos, lol) and share em if you want, nothing out there I could find on youtube so figured I'd do the community a favor and share my experience installing these
I'm a no good mechanic thats for sure but its not all that hard, so anyone can do it
I have the gear oil, sport cats to install, and tune to do. hopefully I can be done with this soon as its starting to warm up again this weekend and I have been really missing driving my car, can't wait to see what its like when I'm all done
Thats one sharp V12! Manual?!... be honest how does the V12 keep up with the 650?
yep 7 speed dogleg...quite the challenge keeping up with the carbon tubbed, 650 hp Macca, but its "point a shoot" kinda car... you need to work at extracting. all of it from the V12VS manual...but then, that's why I bought it!!...you drive it, it doesn't drive you.......my "point and shoot" 458 and GT3RS are more than fast enough to keep up with his 650S
Aldv,
I have driven my car several times now and one long drive yesterday and no codes so I think you were right, I fixed it. It makes one feel good to tackle the problems and solve them yourself.

Washed it to get the dust off, stabil in the gas, more tire pressure and put it next to my desk for the winter - won't see sunshine again till April in Minneapolis (maybe).
