Vantage side skirt question

Recently sold my 997TT, looking for 09 and up Vantage coupe. I noticed some 09 cars do not have the side skirts some do. It seems all 2010 and up have the side skirt.

I always preferred the look of the 06-08 Vantage with no side skirt, I like how the rear flair is more pronounced with out them. Car gives the appearance of being wider.

Anyone know if the side skirt can be removed on the 2010 and up cars.

Thanks still can't decide on manual or paddle.

Hi

You can change the side skirts

Not that difficult

You need to drive the paddle shift to decide

Good luck

PLUSE one one the above post. Try both, sticks in the later cars are harder to find, but I think are worth a look.

Drive cars with each transmission and make up your mind on your own - everyone's taste is different and that's the only way to tell for sure.

All cars have side sills, but there are a few different styles. More info here:

All are easy to get (I can get them if you want brand new ones). A few forum members probably have their original pre-facelift side sills (me included) and would let them go for cheap. Shipping is a pain, though, because of how long they are, so a local exchange would be a great option if you can find someone nearby.

For what it's worth (my opinion) real sports cars have three pedals
Where there is smoke there is tyres...... and auto type shifts can't really do it

Had my Vantage out today for a hoon, ... enjoyed the manual 6 speed.

Compared to my mustang GT with new auto box paddle shift it's just different however the line lock feature in the new Ford is a real hoot allowing one to lock just the front wheels for when you just have to shave those Pzeros

All chips down I must admit the stick shift is nice .....but it gets tiering in traffic,,,a auto with a big V8 is the dogs bollocks

My 997TT was manual, only way to go as tiptronic was not Porsches greatest auto. PDK is a lot better but mine was an 07.

As the other poster stated manual Vantage's are not as common as sport shift in the 09 and up cars. I drove an 07 Vantage manual a few years back and loved it, this was prior to buying the 997. Not in a hurry so I can take my time finding the right car.

Thanks

You have a nice observation. I wanted to change my side skirts to the N400 or V12 style but every time I look at her I love the wide visual of the rear fenders. Might just keep it the way it is now that you hit a nerve...

I am one of those, like you, who prefers the original body style- without the newer side skirts. They look perfectly fine but I like the original, cleaner, design that gives greater emphasis to the wide rear fenders.

Also, as an admitted traditionalist, I much prefer the manual 6speed. Every drive is total fun. If I lived in San Fransisco, I would probably like the ASM better but I don't. Drive both. It is a personal preference.

I battled with the same issue when searching for a car. I just loved that original clean look, but the N400 sills started to really grow on me. They update the look without the extremes of the front splitter and duck bill spoiler. Not that I would say a 2006 looks dated, it's a timeless design, but the more interesting body lines created by the sills just makes for more interesting visuals. It took me 6 months to get there, but I got there.

So, anyone know where I can pick up a set of N400 or V8s sideskirts to upgrade my 07 v8 vantage?

There are several vendors whom are forum sponsors that can order them for you.

I am currently in the process of some upgrades on my Vantage and plan on swapping out my N400 sills for a set of V12 or GT4 sills. If so, I will be posting them in the for sale section of the forum. They are tungsten silver in color but could be repainted to your car's color. New ones come in primer, not painted.
