2013 V8 Vantage has stranded me twice this week

I have searched online and found people with kinda similar issues but not exactly like mine so thought I would post my exact issue here.
I have a 2013 V8 Vantage, 5000km(3000 miles) with Sportshift transmission. I was driving on local roads for 20 minutes or so at 50km(30mph) with no issues. I suddenly got a warning message stating "gearbox fault reduced function" althought the vehicle continued to drive fine, I pulled over and shut the vehicle off. When I attempted to restart the vehicle it would not restart and was giving me a new message saying "gears not selectable" or something like that. I called the dealership and a mechanic told me to undo the negative battery cable for 10 minutes and retry starting it. This did not work. I called a tow truck but I had to wait an hour, just as we were trying to get the gearbox into neutral (it was in first), we were able to start the vehicle and I drove it home with no issues or warnings. The next day I put a code reader on it and the only code it was indicating was for EVAP. I drove it that day with no issues. Yesterday I drove it again with no driveability issues and once stopped I tried to restart it again and it did the same thing but had no warning messages at all this time. I disconnected battery but no go, so I waited a couple of hours and it started fine again and drove it home. Started fine all times today but have not driven it. The battery condition appears to be fine, it shows 13.2 Volts across the terminals. I tightened up all terminals etc. I do the clutch relearn all the time also. I guess my next move will be take it to the dealer with no warranty on it, I dread that trip!! One other thing I noticed when checking all the fuses front and back is that some of the fuses were different Amps from what my Owners manual shows so I rectified that, no fuses were blown. Car still starts fine now.

It sounds to me like a temperature sensor issue. I'm not familiar with the sporshift system, but I'd first look to make sure the transmission isn't low on oil and then look at a transmission temperature sensor as a culprit.

Update

I took it to MCL Motorcars in Vancouver and they spent a few hours yesterday looking for issues in the wiring. The service advisor called yesterday to say that they were getting various gear box codes but really had no idea why and were referring it to Aston Martin Rep. This morning he called to say that they had got the car running by updating software(I was skeptical this was the issue) but he wanted to let the service manager drive it tomorrow to make sure it was fixed. He just called back now to say that it would not start again but it threw a different code which was for a gear box position control module or something like that which is $2100 CDN, it sits on top of the transmission which is 15 hours of labour to remove and install the new part. So looks like at least $6000-7000 CDN at least(not sure what the labour rate is) for a fix on a vehicle that has 5000km on it. Not impressed and the vehicle will be traded on something German after it is back running. Perhaps an Audi S7 or C63s. I knew I should have kept the Porsche!! Oh well, live and learn, it's just money I guess is the only way you can look at it! I will post all the details when I get the car back in 1.5 weeks.

Horrible...I would contact AM direct in England and get answers why a car with so little miles failed...you should request help with this repair...

I will tell the dealer to not fix till you get better answers from AM...perhaps this is on the new recall list?

I understand and fell bad for this experience. Shame ... I hope you get answers and good luck...if you trade every car line has problems but I believe this is cause for running...

Please keep us updated..

It is too bad but I knew it had no warranty when I bought it. I just thought well, it only has 2000 miles it should be good for a while before an issue!! I think I will trade it on a new car with warranty. I should be able to get most of my money out of it except for the repair perhaps. The previous owner paid around $172,000 + 15% tax= $197,800 CDN($150,000 USD). I purchased it for $100,000 CDN+15% Tax=$115,000($87,000 USD). I should get close to $90,000-$95,000 CDN for my trade in which will get me something decent I think! Thanks for the replies and I will share the bill details for the repair in a couple of weeks.

Pretty much hey. The service advisor was sympathetic too, he said Aston Martin owners have to have a sense of humor! No Scheisse!

Ouch. Definitely leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but any 6 figure exotic could do this to you. Buy a car with a third pedal!

UPDATE:MCL Motorcars in Vancouver BC came through for me. They figured out the issue which was the control unit on top of the transmission. They only charged me for labour so total cost was 1 week without my vehicle and $2800 CDN for the fix. Very pleased that they got goodwill on the part from Aston Martin. I was only out of warranty by 3 months and the vehicle only has 5000km on it. I immediately went to test drive a 2017 Jaguar F Type R. Full warranty, 550 HP, it is a rocket. Has a better transmission than the SSII in the Aston in my opinion. Suprisingly docile around town if you want it to be. Now I just have to get them to come up $10,000 more for my trade in. Wait and see I guess!
