rocketboots999 is infamous around these parts
Trunk (Boot) Release

The external trunk button and the key fob are the only ways to open the trunk on my car. The AM Service Manager told me that when that fails (and they do), they have to cut through from the cabin and attempt to fish the latch.

Does anyone know of a backup opening method that can be installed?

I ask, because when I had my recently reported episode of "haunted car" syndrome, I couldn't open the trunk.

You have the pull tab for emergency release, and the hatch cover does pop off in the front, although it might be a bit awkward doing it from the cabin I don't see why anything would have to be cut into. As soon as the cover is off you could easily make a hooked end for a stick to pull the release.

According to his signature, he has a roadster... so no hatch to go through. I have no idea how the trunk of the roadster is divided from the cabin, so maybe they do need to cut an access panel?

Ouch. Nice catch! And I'd also have no idea how you'd access it otherwise and would defer to the dealers answer. There's probably a way to McGyver something together but this isn't the kind of car I'd want to McGyver on.
