Winter Storage

Hi, I have a 2014 V8 Vantage and have been storing it indoors each winter connected to the factory trickle charger. For this coming winter my usual storage spot is no longer available and I'm only able to find locations without power. What I'm wondering about is if anybody has ever tried plugging a deep cycle marine battery in the trunk 12V rear socket as an alternative to the trickle charger? I'm thinking that a 750AH battery might just get me through until spring.

what about a solar cell...i actually have one for my boat and keeps three batteries topped off... you just need to be able to mount it, obviously, in the sun, and you can run wires to the car if not too far

Is the storage area heated? Ambient temps in Ontario wreak havoc on uncharged batteries. Maybe use 2 batteries - you might get away with this swapping the aux battery monthly for a freshly charged one, but if the storage area is unheated that might not even be enough after 30 days of <-20C.

My winter storage has no power so I just disconnect the battery for the winter months and connect it back in the spring, sometimes I have to redo window and seat calibration and so on but sometime I only have to redo my misfire calibration and that is it. But I believe in a 2014 the Misfire calibration is store in the Car's computer... mine is an 09 and that info is lost if the battery is disconnected.

Thanks

Thanks guys. It's indoor heated storage so I might get away with the battery idea. I really appreciate the suggestions.

Cheers

An aux battery combined with using the BDS should work at least for a few months, since the drain is minimal.

I have an office warehouse and keep the Vantage by my desk, like a model on a desk, but a lot bigger. I used to run the engine every so often but found out that's bad for the engine, now I just put it on a battery tender, and that's it. My 'annual' $2,000 'oil change' and inspection is done in the spring. never had any issues storing like that. I don't worry about 'flat spots' on the tires - if they form, they disappear after a few miles.
