I know there are going to be some purists who object... BUT this worked great, and I didn't want to deal with dropping the headliner etc. (I also never use the radio.. I do have an FM bluetooth transmitter that still works perfect.)
The plastic base of my 2006 antenna mount was disintegrating. (rest of the car & plastic are fine) I couldn't glue my shorty antenna to it after it last broke one final time. Shown here is a 'cover' styled after a Saab 9-5 antenna. Its hollow. I put a film of black RTV around the base edge, and then filled half the cover inside with hot glue... and quickly dropped it over the broken base.... $4 on Amazon.
A modern look as a bonus. If I ever do major paint work I'll shave it off. Not a 'today' problem at this time.
