2009 vantage theromstat

Hi all, I think my MY09 thermostat needa to be replaced, the usual symptoms of a fail thermostat are showing. I found couple of threads on the forum relating to it but all related to 2006 to 2008 v8v.

This one using the Ford thermostat looks like is the better way to go.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/aston-martin/414634-installing-thermostat-2007-vantage-v8.html

Can anybody confirm if these parts will work for a 09?

Thanks.

I tried to install RT-1163 but could not fit. The spring has three turns instead of two, and the (part that contains wax) is taller and could not compress enough to fit in housing.
The housing gasket (2W9Z-8590AB/RTS-1079) was exact fit.

I think that's why the other person in the link need to use a tool to compress the ford thermostat in order to get it back in.

I have both the Ford I ordered off Amazon and the Jaguar OEM sold by Redpants in front of me. The Ford spring is a half turn more than the Jaguar and Ford is a bit longer than the Jaguar when not compressed. The wire gauge seems to be the same. Seems the Jaguar is a better fit in this regard though much more expensive.

Sonies, I was just wondering when did you replaced your thermostat? Sounds like the Jaguar part will fit but if it needs to be replaced every 5 years I am hoping the ford parts will last longer with the rubber issue resolved.

Just took mine apart and tried to install the Motorcraft RT-1163 without luck at first. Instead of pushing the entire unit down with my palm, I took both 'wings' and pushed down each side with my thumbs. From there is was quite simple to rotate and properly install.

My experience was exactly the same. The RT-1163 works fine in my 2009 V8V.

The RT-1163 worked fine on my 07 too.was a bit tricky trying to compress in situ
so i removed housing from hose and was much easier to do that way.

I also used the Ford part. I left the housing on the car, so had to use a pulley remover to compress the thermostat down, since I could get no leverage with my hands. LOL
The price was right, so I don't mind.

exactly! i spent about 45 minutes trying to compress that damned thing with the housing still attached to the hose and eventually decided to remove the housing from the car (and spilling an additional quart of anti-freeze in the process) as you mentioned, so as to use my entire weight on it while still having two hands to twist it under the wings. it was a done deal in 10 minutes.
