Red Line gear oil differences?
Red Line gear oil differences?
I posted this in the gear oil sticky thread but haven't gotten an answer:
I've heard people recommend Red Line MT-LV 70W-75 GL-4 gear oil. I'm wondering what the major differences are between that and Red Line MTL 75W-80 GL-4 (which can be as much as $20 less expensive per gallon) for the manual 6-speed cars.
Does the MT-LV have some additive that the MTL lacks?

Oddly, I never have a problem upshifting to 2nd, even when cold. Downshifting to 1st, though, is another story entirely.
I don't know where your are but I've clearly had first to second shift grinding on days below 10*F outside and the car in my unheated garage, but usually only my first shift of the morning after leaving my driveway but still worth the extra $ in my opinion. Since I changed I have not had a problem. The 75w80 was clearly better than the redline 75w90 but also clearly not as good as the bot or the 70w75
I used the Red Line and have had no problems. Red Line says it is made for Graziano gear boxes.

right...but the question was does the MT-LV require the Kendal additive? i read another post from VAP that indicates Kendal additive is not needed in Vantage Graziano gearbox at all
