"Drive Slow Emmissions" Warning

Driving home after filling up with gas, I got the red triangle, with the warning "Drive slow - Emissions System Service Urgent" or words to that effect. I also had a blinking CEL. The car felt like it was missing just off whenever I put any sort of heavier throttle input. Since I had just gotten gas, I checked the gas cap, and it was loose. I haven't checked the codes yet, but I suspect it was my loose gas cap. Is this wishful thinking, or is there another issue? I haven't driven it since I tightened the gas cap. Probably will drive it tomorrow or the weekend.

Like an idiot, when I first got my V8 GT in 2015, I ran the car through the touchless wash not knowing I left the gas cap open! Got the same warnings with water in the tank, $500 later I picked up the car from the Aston service and all was ok - until a few months later like a moron I did the same thing again. Could it have ingested some water when you filled up (something wrong with the pump)??

Certainly is possible. I will check the codes this weekend when warmer, and I will drive it a bit. The cap was definitely loose. I turned it until it clicked 3 times when got home. I think that is probably it, but will verify when I check codes.

A loose cap will throw the codes, but the rough running might be water or other substance. I used to get those codes a lot in the early Vantages with loose caps (I've had 6 over the past 12+ years)

I hope it is not water. I went out of my way to go to the gas station that has ethanol free high octane gas. Nothing good goes unpunished. If it is water than I guess I need to get a gas treatment and go on a road trip to burn off the gas......

OK - added ISO-Heat to the tank, and tightened the gas cap. Everything drove fine, with no CEL or other warnings. So looks like everything is good. May have a look at changing the coils eventually. I have 37K miles on the car already.
