Look, this is all B.S. For the most part, it comes down to the driver and his "heart", i.e. how much fear does any particular driver have. I've always said the fun starts above 100 mph. At those speeds, however, that's where trouble starts (i.e. law enforcement or pure physics).

The truth is, there are few open roads in America that will allow many of these high performance vehicles to reach terminal velocity. So what's the point of this discussion.

At the end of the day, given the road restrictions, there are few cars that will simply out run a Vantage V8. If so, I have yet to encounter one. After all, most drivers have reservations (fear) when it comes to driving their cars.

Having owned quite a few 'fast' cars and motorcycles over the years I've been asked "How fast does it go?" all too often. My position has always been that it's not how fast the vehicle can go, but at what point is the skill, situation, and / or 'heart' as you suggested, at the limit? Wadded up cars and bikes are the result of exceeding these limits.

And speaking of police - had an amusing enough run in with the local Highway Patrol on my way to work yesterday morning. He didn't know how fast I was going other than I passed a long line of debris hauling semis in the far right lane while he was parked on the median - 3 lanes over. He didn't pull out with lights right away and after catching up about 2.5 miles later he rode 3" off my bumper as I pulled over. Coming to my window I got the bark "What's up?", followed by "So you think it's okay to speed past everybody in the right hand lane and then when I'm driving behind you you park yourself in the lane and don't go around anyone?" I explained I didn't want to be stuck behind trucks dropping debris and that's why I made the pass at speed on the right, and there was total validity to what he said. He asked for my license, which on pulling out my wallet was not present - left it in the gym pants form the night before - so he asked for my registration which was in the trunk. Once I was out and at the rear of my car he said "Nice boots! Do you like those?" "Yes, they're Wolverine 1000 Mile boots, the Camden model... this is my 3rd pair." I thought he was going to next ask what product I use in my hair... except he was bald. After giving my paperwork and name he told me "I'm just going to give you a warning, go ahead and wait in the car". Returning to my window he handed me a Courtesy Warning for 10-19 over the limit and explained there's a statute in the (Colorado) law that allows for exceeding the posted limit in order to avoid hazards or remove oneself from danger (this is actually taught in motorcycle safety courses!) . "I saw the trucks but didn't see any debris coming off of them". There was a pause then he asked with no restraint on enthusiasm "so, do you ever take this thing to the track?". Ha! We talked shop for a few, shook and off I went. Lucky! That particular freeway on ramp and stretch can be quite a blast - if early enough in the morning commute can see triple digits in the big sweeper ramp with elevation gain... today the drive took quite a bit longer when going the posted limit, and of course had some Biturbo Mercedes wanting to play, which I didn't engage in. Need to ride on some good fortune for a week or so!

I have blown off a few local traffic cops.... simply because they can’t drive.....my advise is if you see a Porsche or R8 let it go .... any Porsche....even the little one.

in contrast I ride a Panigale’ superbike it will blow off anything ....zero to 100 and stop in under 6 seconds..... they have not built a car that can do this ....launch after launch....
Vantage is stunning in looks IMO better than any Porsche or any Audi, mods my opinion ...but it’s not fast it’s not agile and the breaks are just ok, I am not talking about the Mercedes with a vantage body her breaks are excellent but as we know she lacks personality.....like German motorbikes.

if you lot want fast Vantage should not be your first choice IMO of course ....how many of us dive with our Rolex😊.....but would we wear anything less when traveling or lying at the hotel pool .... in this example the wrist watch is not the most expensive but certainly the most respected and recognized

I am not on this forum much since finding out about **** hub 😂 but will add that the other day I was filling my vantage and at the adjacent pump was pretty boy in a R8 we both knew the Audi will kill the vantage ....but I knew he was simply saying to himself F&*#’fk that car is pure sex

ps i had both Newer 911 and r8. Do NOT F**k with the R8 or the Turbo or 2/3 RS. Everything else is down to the driver.
