CEM dash cam kit

I bought the CEM dash cam wiring kit from Redpants and I am wondering where I should plug it in the fuse box exactly?

Thanks

If you have homelink on your rear view mirror you can source it there.

I do not have the home link, but i think it's made to be plugged in the fuse box.

If you follow the link, its the one on the right, you see there is on end that plugs in a fuse box and the other is a cigarette lighter plug.
So wich fuse slot should I use?

Thanks

you'll have to decide if you want it powered when your display device (whatever it may be) is powered. i would think yes, because otherwise it would serve no purpose. so first i would discover when my display device was powered on. i.e. at all times, or only when the ignition key is turned, or only when the car is running, or only when i am in reverse. there are quite a few possibilities... the i would pick a fuse with similar characteristics, then buy a 'mini fuse tap' at napa or o'reilly's or autozone to allow you to use THAT fuse socket for dual purposes.

Thanks for the reply, if I intend to use the lighter plug for a dual usb charger, what fuse shut I put in?

you first have to decide if you want the unit to have power at all times or only when the ignition key is turned on. when that is done you'll need to find an acceptable fuse in the passenger fuse (mini fuses BTW) box. i did that by using a fuse tap

and a multimeter.

Based on your pictures the dash cam is designed to be powered via a fuse tap. If Red Pants did not specify a fuse, then it’s up to you to find a fused (power source) that meets your needs. For most people a fuse that is “Hot” when the car is on and has no power when the car is off, meets their needs.

My personal recommendation is to use fuse number 22 in the fuse box located in the trunk. This fuse meets the above criteria and only powers the vacuum pump necessary to operate the exhaust valves.

If the wires won’t reach that far, or you are not comfortable with that location, then the fuse box underneath the passenger foot well is your other choice. (Picture attached)

You are then responsible to locate a fused power source that meets you needs. A few minutes with a multi-meter should suffice. If you desire a specific fuse, the fuse box has a diagram specifying what each fuse is responsible for. Be forewarned, it’s pretty confusing.

I have sent you a PM with a link to my website detailing the installation of a radar detector located on the rearview mirror stem. Although this installation is powered from the home link mirror source, it details the removal of the rearview mirror that you might find helpful.

Good Luck
