X pipe on v12 vantage

Hi guys did a search and didn’t get a very great direct answer on this so thought i would ask for your opinions:
have a manual v12 S (which i love btw) have about 5k on it already ( pics below) and am looking for a high pitched sound especially high rpm. Don’t want crazy Loud and don’t want a CEL. Should I do x pipe? If so which brand?(fabspeed, velocity etc) or should I do exhaust (like quicksilver or whatever) thanks again here are few pics!

Go with velocity mid section X-pipe. I just did my V8 Vantage, I'm really happy with it. I don't think quicksilver makes x-pipe.

But if you do headers later, won't you need the center cats to pass smog? So you probably want an X pipe, but not the cheaper ones that replace the center cats but are little further upstream.

On the V12's (similar to the 2011+ V8) the secondary cats are not monitored. If you wanted, you could do a secondary cat delete without throwing any codes. This plus an X pipe should give you the higher pitch sound you are looking for. On my V8S I went with the secondary cat deletes from VAP and did a custom job on the x-pipe. I'll let the V12 guys chime in but it sounds amazing on the V8S.

Depends on the company/brand.
1) Fabspeed makes an x-pipe that deletes the secondaries and replaces it with an X-pipe (leaving the mid section as is).
2) VAP makes an x-pipe that replaces the midsection and leaves the secondary cats as is. (You would need to purchase VAP secondary cat deletes separately).
3) A cheaper alternative to option 2 above would be to buy the secondary cat deletes from VAP and have a decent exhaust shop custom make an X-pipe for the midsection.

I spent a lot of time trying to research the best way to tackle this and i went with option 3 on my V8S.

I have VAP headers and secondary cats along with their x pipe on my dbs. Sounds great with the factory muffler, higher pitched for sure...

I have a Fabspeed Xpipe and quicksilver super sport - sounds good to me!
Really........like all mods, it's a personal preference. At lower RPM's the sound is a little deeper throat-ed than I thought it would be. You might want to try the Xpipe with the stock muffler with the exhaust valves open. If in the future I want a change that's what I'll do. It was a noticeable positive change to the exhaust note without the quicksilver.

Many of the rear sections available certainly make the car louder, but they usually fail to change the frequency of the sound, and you tend to lose a little of the sophistication befitting an Aston Martin.

Like anything, a simple design is usually the most effective and least prone to failure. You can certainly cobble together a similar setup with multiple components from various manufacturers, but every joint, clamp, and connection is a potential failure point - why introduce more than necessary?

We value this forum and its members, so feel free to email me directly, and I'll be happy to put something together for you with a 6speed consideration.
thanks for all the info i will be touch to order one

How about just the decat's on the V12? Will it make it too loud with valves open? Considering for my Rapide, but thought it might be too much...

When i did it on my V8 I went through dozens of posts and videos without getting a clear consensus on if it was "too loud". Sound is just too subjective. The good thing is that it is super easy to do and easily reversible as well, so I just decided to bite the bullet and it ended up sounding perfect. But if not, my plan was to put the cats back on and sell the deletes.

I had them on my V8 and it wasn't too loud, but certainly louder. Service Manager at local dealer didn't think it was ideal for the nature of a Rapide (decat's), but everyone has their own opinion.

Anyone in Boston metro area have a V12 with decats?

On my 2013 V8, I have secondary decat pipes, mid section x-pipe and this GT4 muffler delete pipes will replace oem sport muffler. crossing my fingers, hoping that it's not going to be too loud, we'll find out this weekend.
