enable misfire correction monitor

Hi all...
trying to enable misfire correction...2009 V8V with ASM... Spent all morning trying to enable...70 coast to 20, no AC, no brakes etc. 8 tries, nothing on the Foxwell...

when I got home I thought about shifting... should I slow down in "N" ?

I noticed that when I coasted down, the ASM would shift down...

that's for any help, comments...

What was you fuel level? Should be at least 75% full.

Ok, did you check "Misfire profile correction learned" (PID no 36-1) flag or just "misfire monitor enabled"? If "36-1" is set then you should see misfire counts which means the system has learnt the misfire factors successfully.

Operating temp. 6th gear paddle 70-30mph coast down. No A/C including recirculation button on only. No Sport mode. Make sure brake light switch is working correctly. Should work with 2 attempts.

Validating this. In my Foxwell, the value you're looking to see is that 36-1 was learned. That's your misfire correction.

How do you enable to the misfire monitor and reset 36-1 so that it's ready to do the coast down procedure? My Foxwell NT530 shows that misfired monitor is not enabled and 36-1 is learned and I haven't found where/how to reset them.

Turns out cars after VIN 13435 have to have the misfire reset by the dealer (prior cars can reset by disconnecting the battery). I was really hoping to avoid that since they're 4.5 hours away. Made the trek to the dealer and they were able to reset it and perform the coast down procedure. Ended up charging $980 for the procedure, but it least it no longer keeps displaying error codes.

Good to know you had it done correctly. Ouch on the travel and price though. Important thing is its saved regardless.

You said that the trans shift down as you slow down that might be your issue as in a manual car it has to remain in 6th gear all the way down to 20, I would try it again and I guess in manual mode so the trans stays in 6th gear if that is possible with a Tiptronic trans... like someone said before after 2 tries it should work but I usually do 3.... Good luck
