Rapide fuel pump and harness

My 2012 Rapide lost power and had the low fuel pressure codes. I found a service bulletin to replace the in tank harnesses along with an overlay harness to go from the tank to the fuel pump drivers. Does anyone know what the reason for the harness replacement? The right pump stopped working. Put power to it at the in tank harness. Pump won’t run. I’m going to assume the pump failed. Should I be replacing the harness also?

Yes replaced pump and harness as the connector going into the tank had melted
