I bought my first Vantage back in 2018. It had 13k miles, black on black ‘07 manual with the power pack and a Quicksilver Sports exhaust and I loved it. I got what I felt was a good deal on it so after about a 4K mile summer I sold it for a nice profit. Not bad. I then found a 2015 Vantage GT 6-speed with full leather, memory seats, 700-watt audio and about $17k of factory carbon fiber options. After driving it for about 2 days I realized how much I missed the Quicksilver so I later added the SuperSport exhaust and that investment pays off every time I drive it.
The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the Speedway White and red GT livery. It’s very bold, very Aston but not how I’d do it. It’s covered top to bottom in 3M PPF but there are a few areas where dirt is getting under the film so will need to be addressed at some point which leaves me with an opportunity.
Originally, I was thinking a wrap in matte white, black or grey which if done correctly, can look fantastic. Currently, I like the idea of simple matte white with a black roof or keeping the GT feel but replacing the grey stripe with a red one from the V12 S then covering all of it in matte clear xpel. Here are a few photos. Looking for any thoughts or ideas. First seven photos are my car.
Personally, I think these cars look best in dark colors, and my favorite is green. Shmee just wrapped his Porsche Taycan in Midnight Green metallic, which I think would look fantastic on a Vantage. The only thing I would change is the gold that he used for the accents and the wheels; I'd go with a darker bronze color.
I do also agree that the lipstick and red roof stripes are too bold. Have you ever thought about a deep burgundy color? It wouldn't look good in matte, so would have to be a gloss wrap. Maserati has a beautiful color called Rosso Folgore. I'd love my Aston painted that color.
Aston's have one of the best paint finishes in the industry and the problem with wrap is that they are just that - a wrap, you loose depth.
Maybe swop out the lipstick color for the GT grey stripe and ceramic coat?
The remaining colors are beautifully coordinated - IMHO.
If I were to wrap your car, I would wait to see what Aston Martin F1's livery looks like and play off of that. The green of the AMR winning Vantage's could be fun. There's always Gulf Blue.
That looks great. I’ve always been a fan of the British Racing green with yellow. I ended up wrapping it in xpel stealth PPF. I just bought a black 2016 GTS that is going to be done in a deep matte back with gloss black stripes and Vossen wheels. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.
