Hi, i just purchased a 2012 DBS Final Edition with 10,914 miles. Of course there are a couple of small issues. I live in Northern CA., and was wondering if anyone knows of a good independent? Also, since CA requires a front license plate, can anyone recommend a removable or retractable front plate bracket? Will also be looking to get a dash cam and installed radar detector if there are any recommendations and more importantly locations/dealers to do the installation.

Depends where in NCAL you are located.

If in Bay Area there's Robbie at peninsula European in San Mateo, Aston or Jaguar dealerships in Walnut Creek, Roselli's in South Bay, the Racers Group in Petaluma. All solid choices, just depends on your location.

I've seen retractable plates sold on amazon and eBay. I'm not sure I'd go through the trouble.

If you have a friend in law enforcement, they can always validate that you "fixed" your plate issue.

i've been driving in california for 20 years and IME, i've never been pulled over for not having a front license plate. in fact the only time i was pulled over for not having a front california license plast was while driving through missouri. i'm not kidding.!

 

Welcome to the club. I'm in the bay and drive my DB9 often. I too would like to find an independent.

 

FWIW, I made one using a piece of ACME Threaded rod (Left Hand Thread) and bar stock. Got the rod and bits from McMaster Carr.

Threads into my front tow hook. I keep it in the trunk for the annual inspection cycle, and in case I get pulled over.

 

Buy a DBS...

 

Thank you for all of the responses. I agree and am going to hold off on adding a front plate. My previous weekend cars did not have one, guess I am just getting older. My previous cars were a 2016 MB GTS, 2017 Porsche 911, 2012 Ferrari California, 2002 Ferrari 360, 1994 Bentley Continental GT, 1992 Lambo Diablo, 1997 Ferrari 456, 2002 Lotus Espirt, 1994 Dodge Viper and 1994 Lotus Espirt. This goes back to 2002, only could afford one at a time, but none had a front plate.

I am in the Napa/Fairfield area and appreciate the info on the repair facilities. I will post pictures in the near future of the AM.

Based on your location, you can either go to TRG in Petaluma or Walnut Creek Aston or Walnut Creek Jaguar. J&G automotive in Marin is another option for you, but it may be a little further.

They all employ Aston Martin techs that know the cars very well. TRG is more engine/race prep based but they can do oil changes and suspension repairs or upgrades.

There's also a lot of videos and resources on here for DIY if you have the time.

I bought a "Mower Deck Axle" mount for my DBS. Works great, but I took it off at some point and have never bothered reinstalling a front license plate
