I agree. A better design and secured to a more robust backing is needed. My procedure is to insert the charger plug into the receptacle in the trunk. When my digital voltmeter ( installed next to the charger) reads the battery voltage I know that I have a proper connection. Only at this point do I turn on the charger.

 

Gonna grab smallest one & keep in door....

Remove the useless cigarette lighter and install one of these instead

 

Naa... Don't want any other pull on Batt, Got this already & It charged up Phone Good Today & Actually Matched the lighting Perfect to Radio, Threw it in Door Compartment, I Like That little door Closed.
