battery dead

afrter only a week sitting in the driveway my battery failed to start the car today (not even enough power to turn on the lights). Prior to that it had been on two long trips 500 kms so should have been fully charged. I know all those computers require a bit of juice when not in use but that's rediculous. The battery will not even start with jumper cables so I'm using a charger to try to bring it back to life as I write this. The dealer who sold it to me said that he had replaced the battery (I guess I'll be pulling out the seat and finding out). Any other suggestions??

Its a standard 12v system so in theroy any generic battery (set up for outside venting) should make her run but I'm sure, being a porsche, there's a catch.

possibly an alternator issue?

Do this, once you get it started, let it warm up for 5mins then while idling, disconnect only the negative lead from the battery. If the car dies, then your alternator is faulty.

Do you have any aftermarket accessories that could be drawing power over time? I would just run it and see if it happens again.

It now looks like the problem may be in the enter and drive system. After the car would still not start after the battery charger had been on for a while I decided to take out the dummy key and try it with the standard key. Guess what.... it started fine. I checked the remote and it is able to opperate all functions (except the enter and drive system?). This is getting more complicated but at least I don't need to buy a new battery.
