V12 Vantage
V12 Vantage
Always admired the V12 Vantage 6speed and finally picked one up a 2012 carbon black last year. Driving it lately, it makes me think of these older discontinued big NA engine with manual transmissions. I sold a 2014 R8 V10 manual spyder for more than what I paid for it and it seems like it keeps on appreciating. I know the car market is a bit nuts right now, but just curious if the V12 vantage will follow the same path. Perhaps not as big a market for these cars? Or the S overshadowing it?
Either way, going to enjoy it, but curious if there's something I'm missing that will keep these down.

Although from the other side of the pond, this link may give you some information.

I bought a 'new' (never sold but listed as used) 2017 V12S for $145K ($205K list), assuming I was going to keep it forever. Knowing it would go down in value before going up I was in it for the long term - no previous owner and I'd plan on a few thousand miles annually and extending the warranty, I traded a 2015 V12S probably at the worst possible time - when there were over 50 on the market because of lease returns, so I only got $75K for mine on trade - pretty much what everyone was offering. My plan was to have it paid off by last year - but Covid affected my cash flow somewhat, and I decided to trade the V12S - take the equity and pay cash for a C8 I ordered. In talking to dealers, they felt the V12 Vantages were going to become collector status and within a few years prices would skyrocket for pristine collectible cars. I think this is probably a good time to find a clean V12S and invest. I'll likely get another V8 Vantage - something like a 2009 to 2011 within a year, but while I'd like another V12S, unless I have some sort of windfall I'll keep the budget low. I probably should have kept and paid off the 2015 V12S in hindsight. Justifying the C8 vs. keeping the V12S, I had to weigh - what if business was terrible (currently it's great - currently) and I continued to be saddled with $1400 monthly payment, insurance, the $2,000 annual 'oil change' required to keep the warranty, then next year starting the $4500 annual fee to continue the warranty (I like to keep all cars under warranty if available) and the $2K annually for Minnesota tabs - vs cash for the C8 and just $1,800 to extend the bumper-to-bumper zero deductible warranty through 7 years and 1/3rd the cost of tabs annually. While the C8 is an incredible car (at any price), for the $68K I paid, it's still not the experience of the 'feel' of driving any of the past 6 V8 or V12S Vantages I've owned. It has a much better ride - is as quick, and handles great, without feeling like a Corvette (I never cared for how a Corvette previously drove), but it's not as involving nor does that great sound get to your ears because of all the noise and heat insulation needed being rear engine. Hell, I'd even love fake sound than no sound! Told the wife last week I need another Aston - she asked for me to hold off to figure where we will move (to warmer weather). Anyhow long story - but I think the V12 or V12S in the not too long future will be collector status and a very good investment (as any of the older style Vantages in pristine condition).
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have a unique example - sub 9k miles on a 1 of 40 carbon black v12 manual. I've seen some carbon blacks that are just black, but mine is a blue/purple/black which I like. I think it's a keeper, but I also get the car trade itch - and I like to put miles on the car. Going to just drive it for now......
Did some digging around and didn't know these numbered 2012 carbon black cars were so rare. I learned my car is Azurite Black which explains the purple tones. Only five made worldwide. There are virtually no comps for these cars, but I did see a 10k mile 2011 v12 manual just sell at Newport AM - it was listed at $139k. Don't know if it sold for that much, but it's about the only data point out there right now.

I passed on a white one for $90k in September 19.
Should have bought it.
Domani in Fl has one - that hasn’t sold and has a ding - for 114.
The one in VA had a warranty iirc. That’s what, 6k alone. Sold quick too.

I don't think the S is overshadowing it and any appreciating value with positively effect either variant. The V12 Aston's in any model will have their day, just don't know when that will be.
I don't know if I'd say they doubled. Manual 2011/12 V12 vantages have been trading between 95k-115k for a while now. I'm just now seeing them tick up. They seem to always be around 20-30k lower than the DBS and those have been getting some solid money lately.
I have 22/40 in azurite as well! Was hesitant about the color at first, but now love it. Hope I stay patient enough to keep it.....itch, itch...

Good luck.
I checked your purchase post, you basically just bought it.
That time was probably the highest price spike I was commenting about.
2019 lowest, end 2020 highest.
