GOOD MORNING ALL, Looking to purchase an OBDII scanner for my 2009 DBS manual car, Looking for a good scanner to have as an information and diagnostic tool, looking for some insight on which unit to purchase and where/ Thanks and be safe its a jungle out there.

 

I have a Foxwell NT530. Works well, reasonable price and can store multiple programs so you can use it with various vehicle makes.

Same here, Foxwell 530 $169 free shipping and no tax. Register online and download the AM program and it reads everything one would care to know. Plus the OBD side reads anything else that you own. Pays for itself on the first scan.

If you buy it make sure it has AM software, some places charge $60 additional. This link gets you 1 vehicle choice with purchase when you register unit.

 

Happy with my NT530, using both the supplied Aston software for 2014 Vantage as well as purchasing an additional update for Mazda. The Foxwell instructions are a bit skimpy and you will have to hunt online for a glossary of codes. PC based compatibility only...no Mac.

 

Has anyone used the ThinkDiag device? Aston 1936 is an engineer and seems to like the thing. Any else have thoughts?

 

I went to their sight and they don't support my 2009 DBS manual, I haven't had time to call them . took my Mom, 89 for her 2nd shot yesterday, hopefully i can call on Monday

 

so I called Thinkdiag lowest yaer they go is 2011 DBS auto transmissions ONLY. so NG on that device.

 

Manual transmission doesn't apply cause it's not connected to anything except the reverse lamps. Absolutely no difference between a 2009-2011 except B&O audio. It will work as well as the Foxwell

 

Interesting. That is what I was told by the Sales/Tech person at ThinkDiag. He said that he wouldn't work on my 2009 and no plans to in the future for a unit that will . So all the settings , idle rpm, timing ect, ect are the same in an auto as in a standard? Thanks for the help and be safe

Hi all, can foxwell read if the misfire codes are stored?

 

Any reader should be able to read the P closed for the powertrain, those are part of the regular OBD standard.

But if you don’t already have a generic reader and are thinking to get one, Foxwell is not a bad way to go.
