Reverse gear chime stays on

I just got my 2011 Vantage V12 manual and I am learning to adjust to quirks already. When I put the car in reverse, a chime goes off and the Reverse light goes on. However, when I am done backing up, and put it in first and even start driving forward, the reverse chime stays on. Aargh! I have to stop the engine and restart to get the chime to go away. Does anybody have a solution to this one? I would be willing to remove the chime module if I knew where to access it and what it looks like.

perhaps it's the rear sensor... try pressing the rear sensor button.

MRCW,
Pardon my ignorance, but where is the rear sensor button? Is it on the center stack? I looked in the manual and can't find it.

Its one of the large buttons at the bottom of the centre stack. There will be a red light on when the sensors are active. If you start driving the rear sensors turn off at something like 5mph, so the sound should stop then.

Its likely to be a failed sensor causing the problem, they are the same as Jaguar and Land Rover sensors, and pretty cheap if you buy from someone other than Aston Martin

Thank you MichaelD, for the valuable information. I am going to have to do a lot of this stuff on my own as there is no dealership within 2,500 miles of Oahu, so you guys are an extremely valuable resource. Mahalo

When you shift back to a forward gear and go over something like 4-10kph, the Park Distance Control will deactivate for it's no longer required.
If it's staying active then the PDC system is seeing reverse selected.

Does the "R" L.E.D turn off in the instrument cluster when the shifter is pulled out of reverse gear?

Btw, if your not near any objects and the PDC is going crazy, you would also have an issue with sensors are harness....or simply just a dirty sensor or something attached to bumper which is too close (vinyl wrap, carbon lower spoiler, license plate mount, aftermarket camera)
