Convertible top issue
Convertible top issue
Hey guys. My 2009DB9 convertible top, well actually the deck lid that open and closes for the top, is having issues. Driver side makes a grinding noise but the lid opens and closes but doesn’t finish the cycle. The car beeps saying room movement not complete, even though it is complete and the only way to make it go away is to shut the car off and restart. It happens both when opening and closing the top. When I open the top, the lid on the driver side looks like it is hair open and not fully closed. When I close the top it looks flush and fine.
indy spent 2 hours and had to stop in order to be able to put back together for me to get the car back for the weekend. He said he needed to remove the window regulator just to get to the mechanism and see what’s going on. That required removing the window regulator and more time to just get to it. once he gets there he would investigate the grinding noise and take it from there. It can be a few days at the shop and hours of labor without k owing the end result.
Anyone have insights here? Is there a simpler fix? If parts are needed, are they available readily in the US. Frustrating to have this issue right when convertible season is starting. Any help would be appreciated!

Great thought! I’ll have the battery checked. Thank you. Can autozone check the voltage from the hood or trunk? or do they need to access the actual battery that is bolted behind the seats?
i suppose voltage can be checked between any two wires or body parts that are connected to the posts. but to isolate the battery as a potential problem i like to use the terminals on the battery itself.
