I've done the same to mine and it turned out great.
I just wish there were a solution to replace the rubber button covers, because with any use at all, they easily get trashed. The symbols rub off and the tiny little plastic divider piece cracks and pushes through. Rubbish, if we're honest...

I would agree with you but I found several pictures of the plastic key with this buttons as well.
