Changing coils and plugs

Getting ready to change plugs and coils in my 2009 V8V with about 28k miles

I have no codes, problems, misfires, etc., just preventative maintenance.

Will I need to clear any codes afterwards? Do you all disconnect battery or pull a fuse(s) for this work?

Wait until you have an issue, I wouldn't change coils, but maybe plugs. I believe they are 70k but you can do your own diligence on replacement.

8Tech is infamous around these parts
Certainly replace the plugs but I am not aware of coil issues on the V8, unlike the well documented problems with he V12. In which case, replacing plugs alone will be fine.

As long as the ignition is not switched on with anything disconnected, you will not get any fault codes stored. No necessity to disconnect battery or power at all.

Just did my spark plugs. No clearing of codes. It recommends spark and coil packs 7 or 70k but I inspected my coil packs and didnt warrant a change.

how did you determine the coil packs were ok?

I thought heat, time , etc can deteriorate them electrically, not just cracks, etc.

This is in no way a scientific approach but since it's 7 years or 70k miles, my car hit the 7-year interval but nowhere close to 70K (~18k). So I check the boot for wear and tear and cracking due to age and did not worry about the heat, cycling, etc to impact it. I'm not getting rough idling or other symptoms that would lead me to change coil packs.

Also, I've never had to change coil packs in my other cars and they have way more miles than my Aston.

Local dealer never mentioned anything about changing plugs past the 7 year mark on my car or is the 70K a more reliable indicator?
